Jerome H. Meyer & Co. was established in 1975 and quickly rose to be one of the most respected full-service property management and leasing firms in the Midwest. Our management and leasing portfolio includes a wide array of multi-family, retail, office, mixed-use, industrial and condominium assets.
We understand that circumstances arise where you would need to get out of your lease early. According to sections 10 and 11 of the lease, you are responsible for finding a new tenant that is acceptable to our office. You will continue to owe rent until your lease is cancelled. The lease cancellation will not be binding until a new tenant has been found and a signed lease has been returned to us.

Directly send funds for owner contributions, including emergency maintenance repairs, renovations, or reserves via eCheck or Debit Card.
A. We prefer all Non-emergency work requests be submitted using Appfolio Tenant Maintenance Request, however a service request box is located in each building. If you have an emergency, please call your building engineer directly. If a reasonable time has passed and your maintenance request is still unresolved, please feel free to contact your Property Manager.

I have loved living at 421 barry under Jerome h Meyer. The property manager zedenko is amazing and always caters to my needs. Maintenence is never a problem. The showing agent Jennifer Jones is amazing. Not only is she knowledgeable about the building, process and procedures but know the area well. I would give both Jerome j Meyer and Jennifer Jones a 6 star review if possible

Maintenance and upkeep of the units is deplorable. The maintenance team never fixed any issues in a timely manner. The property manager, Dan, is terrible. I wouldn't recommend renting here to my worst enemy. Apartment was filthy when I moved in, stove didn't work, dishwasher didn't work, fridge was extremely old and they could not fix it and refused to replace it. Carpet in the bedrooms had mold and smelled bad - refused to replace it. Terrible.

I'm going to do another one because the scumbags will say I exaggerated when I write the state. Floor machine against the units again today. Outside cutting by someone else I'm sure just to be helpful. All perfectly legal terrorism. Please hold all Jerome rent, do not pay a late charge. It's trafficking, everyone knows it. Overpowering chemical coming into the units this afternoon. You ever experienced that in an apartment? Never without notice. We go through this at least several times a week

Units are not cleaned prior to move in, disgusting. They have one of those ongoing remodeling projects going in a unit
now. If this is the reason you withhold rent, remember it's them and not you. UPDATE: 10/23, they are still at it. Don't do anything with these people, run, banging on the floor, running a machine for months. No one pays this kind of rent for that.

I think the quality of this management company must vary by the quality of the building it's managing. In my building, they do an excellent job of informing tenants and owners of updates. I've had no complaints so far. They were quick in arranging my move in, made it very easy and clear on the move in procedures and have always been good to work with!

These people handed us a property in precarious conditions, they informed that by the time of delivery it would be impeccable, after two days the unit is flooded due to problems in its pipes. By notifying him of this they simply claimed that by handing over the key they cannot do anything, without even a delivery inspection. Do not try to rent a unit, they are very unprofessional.

I've lived at a JHM residence in River North for a little over a year and a half. It can sometimes be frustrating dealing with the businesses that live underneath us, but my requests have been answered and dealt with promptly by the building manager, Samir. He's nice, responsive, respectful of my space, and considerate of my (sometimes jerky) cat. I've had issues with the toilet (never ideal), our fridge keeping temperature, and with the burners of our stove. He came by promptly each time and resolved the issue, often with a new appliance. New move to Chicago!
I recently moved to a JHM property in the Streeterville area at Chicago and Wabash. I cannot say a bad thing about the building. The old character of the exterior is charming and the new renovated units inside are awesome! The building is always clean and I feel very secure living here. The maintenance guy Sam always takes care of things right away which is hard to get anywhere else. The leasing office made my move in super smooth and easy. Alix Salyrs and Jennifer Jones were so great! We found an apartment, had the opportunity to see it in about two hours time, and loved the place. They seemed like they knew the building and were very understanding about what we wanted as tenants. Jennifer showed me all the amenities in the apartment and building too. The application process was so smooth - we applied and were approved in minutes, and logged in the online portal with first month's payment and a signed lease within an hour. My 2 roommates and I used a realtor (Berkshire Hathaway - also great) to lease a unit under Jerome H Meyer & CO's management. We've been working back and forth with Alix and so far have had a stellar experience. They're responsive, accommodating and have an efficient way of going about leasing a new unit. Save your time, money and sanity and rent from literally any other company. We have had nonstop issues since the day we signed our lease. It took nearly a week to figure out where and when to pick up our keys, when we finally got into the apartment it had not been cleaned or painted and the bathtub was clogged and almost overflowing. Once we finally got a hold of someone from the company , they were extremely rude and it took 24 hours to get the apartment cleaned and 1 week before they actually came in and painted. We were told this was all going to be done before we moved in, so move in day was

I moved into an apartment owned by them and the condition of the apartment was wayyy below satisfactory. The carpet was supposed to be cleaned prior to my move in but it wasn't. And they said I had to schedule for it to be done after I had moved everything in there. The circuit breaker shorted out and there would be this massive spark each time it was flipped. There was a huge gash on my stove top. Overall the condition of the apartment was very poor. I will never lease an apartment from this company again and I would definitely never recommend it to anyone else. Stay away from this

Generally terrible management company.
Submitted maintenance requests multiple times in order to get the most simple repairs completed. Often, even when they said the repairs were complete, nothing had even changed. Did not have appropriate heat or AC in any of the bedrooms. Most common response, when replied to at all, was just "that's the way it is."
Leasing agents are very nice, which is a plus, it's just once you actually move in that things go downhill. After 2 years of this, was happy to move out.

The building engineer, Zdenko, gets 10 Stars! He's great and super helpful. The building and management company are not great. There's only 2 washers and dryers for the whole building so it was hard to find a time they were free. The walls are thin so I could hear my neighbors music all of the time. There were cracks on the ceiling and cheap blinds. Lots of bugs and I couldn't figure out how they got in. My AC was old and would freeze if it was on too long. Old amenities but the apartment was a nice size for a one bedroom.

My biggest gripe is their relet/sublet policy. My work transferred

Very rude building engineer. If I could post my review without mark a star I will do that! My story is long so summarize it: After you realized your request put burden on the engineer and you apologized many times you still got yells.

Here is my story: I just moved in and not sure how the building works for key pickup, garage opener pickup and the maintenance so I contacted the building engineer a few more times. Unfortunately the only time the company gets back to you quickly is throughout the application process, and even then it's untimely. I've lived here for over a year and last week I received an aggressive e-mail stating that I have been given my second noise violation and the next time it happens I will need to "evacuate" the premises. This was my first time of ever receiving any notification about my noise level and the letter was threatening. I moved into my apartment in East Lakeview in February 2016. It was immaculate when we arrived just the way it was when it was shown to us initially. Able to pay rent online with a $1.80 transaction fee which is convenient. Responsive staff at the office who have always gotten back to me quickly with email or a call. Had one maintenance issue so far with a kitchen sink pipe but was able to text our property manager immediately (it was a Saturday @ noon) and they came over to remove the bad section of pipe and replace it start to finish was only two hours. Wasn't an emergency but they did it anyway

Amazing is what I have to say !!!!
I was making the move back to my home town of Chicago, not knowing anything about the area or the apartment Alix was so helpful and understanding of what I needed.

When I came in to sign my lease it was the easiest lease signing I have Ever done in and out in less then 30 minutes
Best part is the location on the office. Right by Rock n Roll MC Donalds !!!!

Dealing with any property management company can be difficult. Transparency in this business just does not exist.

The employees, including the leasing agent, are very rude and inconsiderate. They realize that searching for an apartment can be difficult. The ball is in their court, as they say, and they don't hesitate to flex their muscles.

Upon arriving for a pre-inspection, the apartment clearly needed some fixing up, like new carpet and a painting, which they promised would be taken care of.. When move-in time came the apartment had a terrible odor
