I applied for and paid an application, credit check fee ($59) for a unit in a condo building. I nor the rental agent ever hear one word back from Thornton and was left to assume that I didnt get the unit. It then dawns on me that as a victim of identity theft, I have alerts on my credit file that require that they call me any time I request to have my credit pulled. I was never called to authorize the credit pull, nor does it show up on my credit report as a hard inquiry. I do not believe that my credit was pulled.....it seems like they just

I rented from Thornton Properties and strongly recommend that you do not make the same mistake. I've lived in Chicago for many years and this was the most unprofessional, untrustworthy and volatile landlord I have ever personally experienced.
The tenancy ended when I terminated the lease due to material non-compliance with the Chicago Landlord Tenant Ordinance. The exterior and interior walls were not maintained and not watertight. Better have the pots and pans ready when it rained. Stagnant water backed up from the waste lines and remained stagnant in the dishwasher.

Unfortunately, my previous 1-star review has been removed, although I'm not sure why. I can't replicate all of the details I originally provided, but I would strongly advise against anyone doing business with Thornton Properties. My husband and I were considering renting from Thornton, and we were forced to walk away from the deal because the owner was rude and dishonest in all of our dealings. He failed to mention a number of hidden fees associated with the unit until it came time to sign, and he insulted our intelligence (literally) when we were no longer comfortable with the terms

Positive: The real estate agent was friendly when showing my roommate and I the apartment. The building manager was very nice and understanding about the apartment malfunctions we had (e.g. chronic clogged piping, buzzer system that wasn't working properly for 2 years).
