Dr. Steele received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California and got her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University in 1993. She is also a licensed wildlife rehabilitator in the state of Georgia. Although she has her own dogs, cats, and horses, she really enjoys caring for the pets in the community.
I'm Mia, the receptionist. I have a background in retail management but decided to take on a new venture and started here in December of 2015. I moved back here to Lavonia in 2014 to be closer to my family. I have one dog, a German Shepherd named Waldo. Sonya is a great Vet Assistant who loves all our patients.

Everyone was so kind and understanding with my very nervous dog. They took time with her and helped her to feel comfortable. They explained everything very well to us and I was so happy with everything. The price was alot less than I was expecting too. I love this vet and her staff.💛 We are definitely going to trust our pets here.

I took my 6 month old puppy here this morning for the first time and did not have a good experience. I needed a good vet while I was home for the summer before I went back to college. I was not able to go in with her, they got her and brought her back. The doctor came out and told me that my dog was really aggressive and that she bit her and did… not do good inside. This came to a shock to me because my Roxie does not have an aggressive bone in her body. She then continued to tell me I needed serious training and that I should MUZZLE HER. I have never had a problem with my vet I always go

I live in FL and found a pooch wandering around my neighborhood. The only tag he had was a rabies tag with this hospitals ph#. I called and they helped track down the owners who recently moved here and now everyone is reunited. I can’t speak for anything other than this experience, but they were very helpful when they didn’t have to be. Thank you!!!

It was not sanitary at all when we went back to the room. One of the ladies that was drawing my dogs blood acted like she was on something and didn’t know what she was talking about at all. I will never recommend this vet to ANYONE. ANYONE. I honestly don’t understand how these people still have a running business. Then the main woman who came in… and explained the test results that came back on our dog was being rude to the other lady right in front of us. It was my dogs first time ever being at a vet and it’s so sad that her experience was as horrible as it was. If this

We just moved to Georgia and Tugaloo Animal Hospital is wonderful. I love the way they all work with my dogs! They are gentle and kind! My dog got sick and April Steele was so through in her aproch to diagnose… what was wrong. I was so impressed with her knowledge and her ability to find the problem. Thank you April! We took our puppy here for her first ever vet appointment. From the moment we walked in our dog went into alert mode and was very panicky (which is unusual for her). A staff member yelled at (as my dog was barking) my husband to go take her for a run (it was 90+ degrees outside) because she was “stressed out”. So he took her outside to walk as he… wasn’t about to die of heat stroke to run her. Said staff member then belittled other coworkers in front of me with such a rude attitude that I was in disbelief.
