Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is the dynamic martial art of grappling that is effective no matter the size or weight of the opponent. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was created to promote the idea that a smaller and weaker individual, can defeat an opponent much larger and stronger than them by taking the fight to the ground.
Hoboken Brazilian Jiu Jitsu's Youth MMA program utilizes the arts of Boxing, Wrestling, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo and many other sport based martial art systems. The program is designed to challenge your child's mind and body by engaging them in self-defense drills and conditioning exercises.
Muay Thai kickboxing is a form of MMA that utilizes a system of combat that is centuries old. Similar to Kickboxing, Muay Thai teaches students that their most effective natural weapons are their fists, knees, elbows and legs. Hoboken Jiu-Jitsu's Muay Thai program teaches their students the importance of self-defense while promoting an intense workout environment.

Great Place to train. The head instructor Dan Covel is a multi time world Champion and a world class teacher. The environment is welcoming, the facility is clean and safe, and the the people were all very nice. The room was filled with people at all levels from brand new white belts to high level black belts. You could have a great experience if it was your first time in the mat or if your a seasoned competitor. I highly recommend trying a Jiu Jitsu class at Hoboken Jiu Jitsu.

I was a past member of Hoboken Jiu Jitsu in 2013 and have since returned later in 2019, I can say every class is a challenge and feels like competition training. Though the physical is always an obstacle you will feel great afterwards, your mood will elevate, body will transform and you will learn (in my opinion) the most efficient form of self-defense.

Additionally, owner and instructor Rich Van Houten is a truly welcoming individual, always encouraging members to test their mettle and be their very best. Head-instructor of HJJ is Dan Covel; Dan's instruction is solid and really melds both

Great team over at hoboken Jiujitsu. Coaches and staff are friendly and very receptive to new members. Once you join you definitely feel a sense of family and I feel that's very important when you're training in the art of Jiujitsu.

Great gym! They have everything it takes to be successful in the sport. #1 you need great training partners and this gym has plenty. Not only are the guys that train here good people that you'd want to hang out with outside of the gym they are animals on the mat. They're not out to kill you during practice but they are always ready to battle during the live goes and you have to earn everything. #2 The instructors are top notch and don't waste your time. I've been to other gyms where there is no consistency, every day here seems to build on the day before and they don't show you something once and

Started here about 2 months ago and I can say it's been one of the greatest decisions of my life. Whether you have never been on the mat before or you have been practicing the art for years, this place has everything you need. Unlike many other academy's and schools, Hoboken Jiu jitsu is absolutely beginner friendly and the family environment is really what did it for me. The instructors and coaching staff are world class and as a whole hold multiple world titles, gold medals and years of experience and knowledge which they are willing to pass on to their students. If your looking to get into Jiu

Hoboken Jiu Jitsu is the best school in the area not only to learn the basics of BJJ but also to get an intense training session. The coaches are consistently thorough with their teaching delivery and are dedicated to the progress of every one of their students. Definitely have to check it out whether your looking to learn the sport or train for fun with an awesome group of people.

I've been a member of Hoboken Jiu Jiitsu for almost two and a half years and highly recommend checking it out. Whether you don't have any experience in bjj, wrestling, etc. or if you're an advanced belt, the sessions are diverse enough for you to be challenged at the right level. Each of the trainers- Dan, Rich, Chris and Zack provide great guidance in order for you to continuously improve. Its a very open and friendly environment with everyone training during a session where everyone helps each other out. Quick warning, its addicting!
