Helping Hands was established in 1979 as a pre-school/child care center. Since, it has grown into a family of schools known as Helping Hands/Peppermint Tree Schools with Traditional and Montessori Programs. It is our mission to foster a good self image and prepare your child to face life with confidence.

Services
Movement is the primary way of engaging the child with their environment. Each child has a mission. If they cannot use their organs of movement, then they cannot manifest their mission---Maria Montessori. Children enrolled in our Kindergarten, First and Second Grade classes have the advantage of a full day of learning, small class ratios and enrichment activities.
I have been taking my daughter to Peppermint Tree Daycare in Lumberton since she was 4 months old. She is now going on 4 years old. I knew from the minute that I walked through the door, that Peppermint Tree was the perfect daycare for my daughter. When you drop your child off and the teachers hug her and kiss her like she is their own, it makes you feel safe, knowing that your child is in amazing hands.

I am a mother of three who was insecure about finding the right childcare for my child but when I walked into Helping Hands , all my troubles felt at ease. Thank you to the amazing teachers for helping with the transition from home to school and the office staff definitely made me feel calm when my children are in school.

Recently began using this School and I have had no complaints thus far! The renovations and improvements to the building are beautiful and the staff has been wonderful as a whole. I have had many conversation with the new management and they know what they are doing! Anyone looking for a clean, well organized function for their children would be happy here!

I am a former employee who can give the pros & cons of this company.
Pros: Good teachers including both Toddler class teachers, the pre-school 3 teacher & the Montessori assistant teacher are good. The rate is decent and you can use Community Child Care if eligible
Cons: For teachers seeking employment : the pay is average, they say there is room for advancement but it’s a lie. They will use you until they bleed you dry of all your energy then get rid of you when they feel they don’t need you anymore. They have a habit of lying and telling teachers there is a “low number of kids today”

School has recently gone through major staffing changes along with being in the process of renovating/updating the appearance and other assets of the building to best align with the school environment. Would recommend this school to anyone who needs a good loving place to have their child at to learn and grow!
