Murray Engineers
Murray Engineers, Inc. is a leading San Francisco Bay Area geotechnical engineering and consulting company that offers ground investigation services to municipal, commercial, and residential property owners who plan to develop or purchase land. The leadership of one of our licensed principals and a project manager assigned to each project, our customers receive superior customer service, project continuity, and cost efficiency.

Whether a project involves a limited site investigation or extended project scope (including initial study, detailed plan, and construction observation), our expert staff is committed to providing affordable and practical geotechnical engineering design.
Services
In order to obtain a building permit in the Bay Area, due to soil conditions, geological fault line, or slope stability, most construction projects require input from a licensed Geotechnical Engineer (GE), a Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG), or a Professional Civil Engineer (PE).

For example, a soils report, generated from a comprehensive soils engineering laboratory analysis that tests soil collected from the project site, drives the most appropriate and cost-effective geotechnical design for house foundations.
The project developer retained Murray Engineers, Inc. to provide geotechnical services related to construction of a new Chipotle across the street from Santana Row. We completed a design-level geotechnical investigation, including a detailed liquefaction hazard analysis, and subsequently provided plan review services to facilitate building department approval.
Ground movement is often a significant matter in the San Francisco Bay Area. Landslides, expansive soil and bedrock, differential movement of earth fills, fault rupture and soil liquefaction are all common local concerns potentially affecting your property. Improper evaluation of these geohazards can lead to future great expense and heartache in relation to the long-term performance of your major asset.
Geotechnical engineering is the branch of civil engineering concerned with the engineering behavior of earth materials.

We use principles of soil mechanics and rock mechanics to investigate subsurface conditions and materials; determine the relevant physical/mechanical and chemical properties of these materials; evaluate stability of natural slopes and man-made soil deposits; assess risks posed by site conditions; design earthworks and structure foundations; and monitor site conditions, earthwork and foundation construction.
Engineering geology is the application and understanding of geologic science and phenomena to impacts on new and existing construction. The majority of site development and construction is influenced by the local geology and often by geologic hazards or constraints. Our engineering geologists work closely with our geotechnical group to evaluate and define the site-specific geologic characteristics.
