We bought our first home in one of the most competitive real estate markets imaginable. We had zero experience, and yet we were able to find something we absolutely love quickly and within our budget. I am sure that without Chris' help we would have given up on our dream neighborhood long before we found the perfect home for us.

Chris and his wife assisted my boyfriend and I with moving into a rental property here in Berkeley from our home in Austin, TX. Not only did he show me the property past conventional hours since I was visiting for training for work before I moved, but he also opened his office late to help me sign the application! Chris went above and beyond to help me, knowing that I had to be on a plane the next day back to Texas.

This is a review of one agent, and the advice he gave that affects my living situation. He advised someone that rent can be raised to market value and then proceeded to list what he thought was market value rents.
What this agent doesn't seen to understand is that there is this thing called Berkeley Rental Law which dictates rent control.
I spoke to him this morning to get a better sense of where he was coming from and to give him background info on the situation. Plus, my entire point of calling was to get his honest opinion on the rent if I were to come to an agreement to raise rent

My husband and I just bought our first home with Anita and Gail guiding us through the whole process with patience (we had SO much to learn!!), knowledge, and diligence. Gail and Anita helped me through my first home buying experience. I was as green as can be, and they were incredibly helpful in shepherding me through the process. They were frank and honest in their assessments of pros and cons, did not push me, and in the end helped me to negotiate a substantially better deal than I expected. Due to a stupid mistake on my part I had a last-minute crisis a day before closing and they went far above and beyond to help me resolve it. Throughout the whole process I found them both to be low-key, knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely concerned for my interests

That would be a negative star. Anita is the listing agent on a property we'd like to purchase. But do you think we could get the disclosures for it? Not a chance. She's said she would send them on several occasions and then doesn't. Is that just great follow through or is she hiding something? I wouldn't want this woman representing the sale of my house.

Anita and Gail tag teamed our first time home buying experience. They are understanding, tenacious, available and KNOW HOW TO CLOSE A DEAL. This is a quality you will not find in every real estate agent/agency. They know the market well and will be frank about it. If you are looking to buy in Berkeley, look them up.
As a side note: when I first met Anita at a somewhat rundown property she was standing outside the house deadheading the old, neglected rose bushes. As an avid gardener myself (as is she), I fell in love.

Christian helped so much when I began looking for my first home. He was available at any hours, offered his assistance 24-7, and was supportive. He paid attention to the type of home and neighborhood I was interested in.
