We visited Charmaine's while staying at Proper Hotel last week. I booked a reservation far in advance via OpenTable. I made a special request on my reservation and it is obvious they don't look at those requests as our special occasion was never mentioned once during our visit, and we were not seated in an area I requested. Other than that, the experience was decent. The ambiance is very nice. Bring a jacket if you sit outside! (The fire pits helped but we went on a windy/chilly evening and def still needed our coats!) The food and drinks were delicious. The presentation was lackluster

What an amazing night at this classy rooftop bar in the heart of SF. Kicked off my birthday month here this weekend. The people who took care of us here starting with the person in front, Fernanda and Herman before we went upstairs to the rooftop were so hospitable and as busy and booked as they were, they really went above and beyond to take care of my girlfriends and I.
When we were at the rooftop, Naomi, was extremely nice and accommodating and made sure we had great seats with the fire table. She made us feel so special.
Lastly, Jim our server was equally nice and efficient with all our yummy

Came for my first time for a birthday on a Monday evening at 8 pm. We had reservations, and there were a lot of people seated when we got there. However, the six of us had a nice seating area around a firepit with comfy couches and chairs. The decor around the rooftop is also nice- very NYC.
While we received good service, there are a few things that made me knock off 2 stars.
First, I brought a cake and asked them to bring it out later. They did, with a couple candles, and then sliced it up. BUT then there was a $30 cake cutting fee on the bill - so just be warned if you are bringing a cake

Not only does this place have delicious food, but they also have an amazing aesthetic. It is great to see an open-air restaurant in the middle of the city with a great view. We sat in the center of the rooftop lounge and were able to see the bay as well as Oracle Park.
My only pitfall for this restaurant, which clearly doesn't affect their starts/rating, was the fact that their food gives "sit down and eat here" but their seating areas give "lounge only." If you are tall, or if you have a disability this place will probably not be the best for you, the seating just is

I went to Charmaines rooftop for my birthday weekend and not only was the location and the views a selling point but the customer service. Phenomenal. I worked with Hayley in securing a reservation, and from the moment I was in contact with her she provided the best service anyone has yet to top. I work with a lot of restaurants in securing venues for our company events and Charmaines is definitely at the top of my list for my next event.
The restaurant itself is already beautiful but what really stands out to me is how responsive Hayley was. She confirmed everything multiple times for me, answered

To the rude snatch answering the phones at 12PM!
After she had a horrible attitude, I asked her for her name & she hung up in my face!
It took 10 minutes for the front desk to pick up, then it took another 20 minutes to get to a manager on the phone!
I can't believe this place has the audacity to be considered as high end!
Jhana was helpful & apologetic but this place is just disgusting!

My friends and I were in the city Halloween weekend and wanted to go somewhere with a nice view. We came across Charmaines and we were luckily able to reserve a spot for 3. We arrived and were greeted by a really nice lady where we showed our proof of vaccinations. We were escorted to the elevator where we were met by a server upstairs and he showed us to our table.
The ambience was amazing: Chill music, delicious drinks and a view of the city while being next to a fire pit keeping us warm. Definitely not a rowdy place and this was exactly what we were looking for. I will definitely be returning

This was the first time I have gone to Charmaine's but have heard of it ever since living in SF. I went with my roommates to meet one of my roommates parents and it was a great place for friendly conversation, good food, and feeling "lavish". It's a good restaurant/bar to meet with friends, celebrations, or of anything special.
To start this experience, we drove to get there. Parking is difficult. We valeted our car at the hotel and only because her parents were staying there. There is a parking garage about 2 blocks away but it doesn't appear to be the most safe or prettiest

Quick happy hour with my lady. We booked a reservation just to make sure that we didn't have to wait. I am not going to complain about the parking because it is SF after all, but the location itself. We didn't feeI safe walking here. So if you are going to walk there, I will suggest you walk with someone.
Nice rooftop experience. The view is nice but not great. When we got there, we got seated right away. But we had to wait for quite a while before a server came to check on us. There were plenty of empty tables as you can see in my picture. So I didn't see any reason for it.

Charmaine's rooftop bar is definitely a beautiful place to catch up with your friends and watch the lights as the sun set.
I recommend making a reservation. We went on a weekday and I love how I don't feel like they are rushing us. I got the Kissin' in the California Sun cocktail and it was pretty and sweet.
I also enjoyed their fries and roasted pork lettuce wrap. My friend got the fish tacos and she enjoyed it. It is a limited menu and it's more of a place to drink than eat. I also had the Japanese meatballs, which I'm not really a fan off.

The ambiance and environment were splendid! Beautiful day in September to enjoy the rooftop area! The downstairs entrance is quite misleading as to how nicely laid out the chic rooftop area is.
The service was very nice. All employees were welcoming, and the waiter was attentive and kind. I ordered champagne while my friends ordered various appetizers and desserts (fries, olives, creme brûlée, pretzel balls, etc.) . Each person in my party enjoyed their food and drinks. However, I did not order food due to the very limited selections. It's best to have dinner before arriving and focus

I was visiting San Francisco for my birthday weekend and thought Charmaine's would be the perfect after dinner treat. When my partner and I arrived, the entrance was roped off and the hostess was distracted talking to a group of people inside for several minutes. After letting ourselves in and getting the hostess's attention to check in, we were seated at a nice table with a fire pit outside. Great place for date night or small group gatherings at a rooftop bar! They only allow reservations at the moment, no walk-in. I had plans to come here with a group of 8, but 2 couldn't make it last minute. A couple unknowingly tried to walk-in and was denied access. We welcomed them to our spot since we're all just trying to have a good time celebrating birthdays.
If you want something fruity and sweet, order Kissing in the California Sun! Nothing screams sweet and fruity like a bright pink cocktail with a flower inside.
The Fifi was not enjoyable.

This place tries to be posh and exclusive but seems to cater to the bridge and tunnel crowd.
You can't go up without a reservation, then you're taken to a table on the deck or inside. The chairs and tables are very low, not comfortable to sit at and definitely not eat at. The service was slow, it took 15 minutes to get our drinks and there was hardly anyone there. The water was not refilled, we had to ask for that. The drinks were OK but for the price not that special.
The view is quite nice, the fire pits and blankets make the SF weather bearable and the glass railing does block

If you're reading this you're probably looking for rooftop bars in the city, of which there are only enough to count with one hand. Why SF is lacking in rooftop bars is beyond me, but I digress. Charmaine's is an okay attempt to fill that void but left a lot to be desired.
