Services
CarterQue started from a small bet among friends in 2002. We wanted to prove our BBQ was good enough to win the National Capital BBQ Battle that was held in Washington, DC. The BBQ Battle had some of the best teams in the nation competing for cash and prizes, we had no clue what we were doing but we gave it a shot.
One of our specialties here at CarterQue BBQ & Grilling Co. is the ability to cater all types of social and corporate gatherings. We're proud to cater in the DC metropolitan area. We are the preferred caterer at many venues in the area. Our catering team's main goal is to exceed your expectations, we truly excel in customer service!
So I'm your typical Type A, stressed out bride who had to change her decisions like 70 times during the course of the wedding planning because suddenly I had double the original number of guests, and suddenly we had a keg when we didn't expect one and suddenly I had gluten free requirements, etc etc. Did CarterQue or Colleen stress?

We’ve been to Carterque a few times and order take out from them often too. The food is always great and so is the service! We ordered Thanksgiving dinner from then this year too and it was incredible. All the food was so good, but the stuffing was my favorite! Also, I am not a fan of gravy but I tried theirs and it was so good! Definitely recommend checking them out!

Great BBQ with a variety of sauces. Good kids menu, too (grilled cheese, mac'n'cheese, applesauce, fries, etc.). Friendly staff and good atmosphere. There is a small bar area at the entrance for those looking for a quick drink and an appetizer. The Pig Tots (loaded tater tots instead of loaded fries) with choice of BBQ sauce and the crab dip are both good choices. Small parking lot, but there is plenty of other lots nearby.

The last two times we went the food seemed not fresh and not worth the $$. The most recent time the turkey was undercooked and there was a hair wrapped inside the egg roll. The turkey was said to have been smoked thats why it was pink but it was in fact undercooked. Spending money on a family meal out-turned out to no one eating their food. Once everyone saw the undercooked turkey and hair they did not want to eat their food. They did refund the $11 egg rolls but that was all.

We were passing thru on our way home from vacation and just happened to get off this exit for gas. Naturally we had to follow the amazing BBQ smell, thank goodness we did! This is by far the best BBQ we have ever eaten!! I’m only sorry we got it to go, as we would have ended up getting some more to take with us 😊 it was that fabulous!!! Would definitely give this 5 stars and can’t wait to pass this way again and make this an annual “must stop here” place to eat. Absolutely loved it!!

Went to CQ for lunch today with a friend. I ordered the "Queban" sandwich (CQ's take on the classic Cubano sandwich of roast pork, ham, pickles and cheese). I have had authentic Cubano sandwiches before and let me tell you, CQ's version is the best I've ever had. Piled high with roasted pork, smoked ham, and dill pickels, delicious! As good as the sandwich was, our waitress Ali was awesome: funny, helpful, personable. I'd give 6 stars if I could because she made a great meal something even better: a truly memorable experience! Thanks CQ and thanks Ali, I can't

CarterQue BBQ catered our wedding and we have been getting an endless stream of compliments from guests, both about the delicious food and the super charismatic and helpful staff. The dinner was easily the best barbecue we've EVER had! Their sauces are to die for. The mac 'n cheese was so creamy and I could have gone back for thirds or fourths. Just as important to us - their staff was so incredibly kind and professional. They prioritized our comfort above all else – saving us popular treats that were going fast, accommodating guests’ dietary needs with grace, and even checking in on us to

First time in on Sunday and asked if the "burnt ends" were good. Gentleman said they were great......ordered them. The sad part is that they were not "burnt ends" at all. They were just pieces of Brisket drowned in bbq sauce. Not even close to what "brunt ends" are.
Why advertise something on the menu that you know is false? To me that's dishonest. Was the meal bad? It wasn't. Actually the sauce was really good, but again they weren't "brunt ends". Again, why lie on the menu?
Also, why put the cold Cole slaw in the same to-go box

Just finished off their two mear platter with brisket and pulled pork. The brisket was moist and tender as was the pork. The blackberry BBQ sauce was amazy! The flavor didn't overpower the meat but added a nice sweetness.
For sides I had thee BBQ beans and fried okra. The flavor of the beans was a very nice compliment to the other BBQ. The cornbread was some of the best I've had! Very moist but did not fall apart.
Finally for an appetizer we got the fried dill pickles. I like that they use pickle spears instead of chips. They were crispy on the outside but tender on the inside and they

This is a bit of a dissapojntment for me. I've been a huge fan of this place since they were located further down main street. My kids loved their ribs and Queue balls. But they have clearly gone down hill. The ribs are no longer trimmed properly. The Cole slaw is flavorless. The beans are mush.
The worst thing is the queue balls. They are clearly old, frozen and reheated. Not even sauced well. Everything is old, or left over. Your prices have gone up, but your food now sucks.

Food and service were great - we got two platters of the 3 meats (burnt ends, pork ribs, brisket, and pulled pork) and different sides - sweet potato, fried okra, and broccoli. Definitely don't recommend the veggies sides but loves the sweet potato fries. We got those 3 more times with our meal. The brisket and burnt ends were really good and I liked the pulled pork but the pork ribs I could've done without. The sauces like the blueberry were also delicious although I wish they actually had a spicy one - their spicy was super mild. Overall great lunch and would definitely go back. Their

The special of the weekend was this delicious and massive Meat loaf burger stuffed with cheese and bacon. The burger was amazing from beginning to end and the sauce on top would make it perfect. I think it was 1/2 pound but felt double that.
I didn't taste any bacon in it so they should either up it or leave it out. The cheese went great with it and was genius to have it inside instead of on top with the sauce. The fries were a great side and much better than the tots (even if there's a dollar upcharge they're worth it).

The Black Raspberry sauce is a must try here. A brother who lives in Mount Airy told me about it, and he did not steer me wrong. I can see why it's a local favorite. I had the burnt ends with the raspberry sauce. Oh so good, and great service. If you're in a group with multiple vehicles/bikes, it seems always easy to park together in the parallel parking opposite the entrance. Love this place. When on a ride down to Mount Airy and back up through Gettysburg, and this stop was a nice treat!

Stopped by for a quick bite and wasn't disappointed. Love finding hidden gems (well it's a gem for us at least). I had a pulled pork stuffed spud cuz I'm a sucker for a baked potato with toppings. The spud was baked perfectly. The toppings were perfect and exactly what I wanted. I was told the beef brisket sandwich was delicious.
We will definitely come back here to try more items. They have outdoor seating which is great for a summer day. There's something about eating bbq outside that makes it tastier.
