Most of our natural ant species in San Diego have been displaced by the Argentine ant, which was introduced to California in the early twentieth century. These black ants nest several feet under ground, though they sometimes nest in cracks of concrete walls and boards. Unlike most species of ants, they don't compete with each other, further increasing their ability to infest your home.
Carpet beetles are a very common pest around San Diego county and they can be found in many homes and businesses. Our inspectors usually find black carpet beetles, varied carpet beetles or furniture beetles. The carpet beetle will feed on common items in your home including carpets, draperies, furniture, clothing, pet or human hair, antiques and various other natural products.
Centipedes are poisonous nocturnal insects typically 1/8" to 6" long. They are yellowish to dark brown, often carrying dark markings and they prefer moist environments. Typically, centipedes can be found in the coastal areas of San Diego county. If you or your pets are allergic to bee stings, centipede stings will cause the same reaction.
Cockroaches are the most common structural pest in San Diego. Cockroaches are disease vectors which readily transport disease by walking, feeding and discharging bodily waste contaminating clean surfaces and food. There are four species of cockroach in San Diego; American cockroach, Brown-banded cockroach, German cockroach and the Oriental cockroach.
