We specialize in Orthodontics. Braces are used to assist in aligning and straightening teeth in order to not only improve appearance, but improve a person's bite. Having braces isn't just about improving your smile; it's also about improving your overall dental health. Orthodontics may be used to correct malocclusion, overbite, underbites, cross bites, deep bites, crooked teeth and other flaws of the teeth and jaws.
Orthodontics is an incredibly rewarding profession. Digital Indirect bonding is the process of digitally placing brackets on a patient's teeth and then creating a custom tray to transfer the brackets to the teeth. This process works by taking a digital scan of a patient's teeth and uploading it to a specialized software. From there, Dr. Shems will digitally place the brackets in a precise position and then 3D print a model of the patient's teeth with the brackets in the correct position.
This advanced system uses a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements your dentist or orthodontist plans out for you.

From the initial phone call to the office to the consultation, I felt welcomed and informed. The office space itself is in a great location and is a beautiful mix of classy and fun decor. It’s also super clean, and they have taken great measures to ensure safety. The staff we encountered- Nadine, Jan, Carolyn and Dr Shems- were all so professional and clearly enjoy their jobs and desire to do what’s best for the patient. The consult was wonderful, and I enjoyed the digital view of my daughter’s mouth and being able to see inside her mouth with incredible technology and easy to understand

Very disappointed. The estimate for my treatment was 20-24 months. Dr. Shems took me off the braces in 20 months even though appointments were cancelled during COVID lock down. Moreover, the teeth were still competing for the space. My teeth moved badly quickly. My bite is uncomfortable and I hurt myself when eating.
I find the place disorganized. Metal parts were forgotten in my mouth on several occasions. The assistants were providing me with false information. One of them said I would be in braces for 24 months. Another said that they would not take the braces off if I were not happy with my

All the staff at Dr. Shems office are so wonderful. They explain everything in such great detail that we never leave with any questions. It’s clear how much they care about their patients. They speak right to my daughter, making her feel so comfortable and involved. Her teeth are GORGEOUS now, which of course is an added bonus! We love this office.

Absolutely amazing team. Everyone is so kind and involved with your child and you. They explain everything and make sure that both your child and you understand the importance of braces and the process your child will go through. Both my kids need different orthodontic care, and they were very nervous in the beginning of the visit. I have to say I was very impressed with how our visits went. Both my kiddos left the office with confidence and excited to pick the style and colors. Dr. Shems and all of her staff are very professional, extremely competent, fun and welcoming to all who come through their door. My experience has been superb, and I went there because I knew that their work and their staff were tremendous, having had both of my sons get braces there. I can't say enough great things about them and their work!
