Since 1975, families have trusted the Schilling family to serve and care for their loved ones. As a family owned funeral home, we know the importance of personal attention, the genuine and compassionate care that your family deserves during this most difficult time. At Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation we consider your family as precious as our own.

While a funeral is a time of sadness, it is also an opportunity for you to honor a life well lived. We encourage every family to celebrate their loved one in a special way. Each service should be a "one-of-a-kind" and reflect his or her unforgettable personality. We believe that it is important to acknowledge the uniqueness of your loved one, the individuality of their personality, and the existence of their life's path.
Services
The Cremation Association of North America describes cremation as, The mechanical and/or thermal or other dissolution process that reduces human remains to bone fragments: On our ONLINE CREMATION PLANNER, where we have a detailed look at the most common, simple and affordable cremation services that we offer.
Select your desired service, scroll down to select the town or location where the decedent passed away, then click "Next." Our basic direct cremation option includes removal from place of death, obtaining necessary paperwork regarding the cremation such as filing death certificates at local registrar, and filing appropriate coroner cremation permits.
Family and friends getting together to honor a loved one's life is one of the most important steps in the grieving and healing process. You may opt to have a traditional religious or military service, or as more and more people are doing, you can choose to have a non-traditional 'life celebration'.
Many people plan for life events such as weddings and vacations well in advance, but many people do not plan for something that is certain to happen, their funeral. While most people do not want to think about their own mortality, the time to pre-plan your funeral is now.

The primary advantages of pre-arranging your funeral is to relieve the burden on your loved ones in an already emotional time, and to ensure your funeral is carried out according to your wishes, eliminating the task of second-guessing what you would have wanted.Taking the time now to arrange your funeral is one less thing your loved ones will need to worry about once you've passed.
No matter if a death is sudden, or if it something that was a long time coming, the loss of a loved one makes us feel emotional and overwhelmed. No amount of preparation can fully prepare you for the loss of a loved one. When you are in a heightened emotional state, even the most basic decisions can seem staggering.

My brother and I worked with Schilling after my mother's recent death (Sept. 23, 2021).
John Paul Schilling was professional and compassionate every step of the way, making this difficult time so much easier.
Our memorial service (Oct. 29, 2021) was everything we hoped it could be.
Our questions were answered every step of the process in a courteous and prompt way.
I can highly recommend Schilling's, which we also used when my dad died in 2004. My mom was impressed then and wanted us to go back to them again after her death.
I'm so glad that we did.

I couldn’t ask for better people with such compassion as John Paul and his staff. From the beginning they were welcoming and so understanding. I didn’t feel like it was just a business. I truly felt like they were more like a family. I would recommend Schilling Funeral to anyone. They made losing my mother and having to do the unbearable just a little more bearable. Thank You John Paul and staff.

These people are caring, kind, thorough, professional, and reasonably priced. Most of the arrangements were made over the phone the previous day and we expected at least 2 trips to make final arrangements and to pickup my younger brother's cremated ashes. My father and I traveled over 2 hours from the Chicago suburbs. We were greeted by a smiling young lady who helped us select an urn from numerous porcelain metal choices they have on display at a very reasonable price. Then we met John Paul Schilling and to our pleasant surprise he had already obtained the necessary paperwork for the cremation

John Paul Schilling, Mary, and Kora were so wonderful during one of the hardest times in our life. John made himself available many times during the process of planning, questions, setting up a special tribute to my father. As did Mary and Kora. He and his team think outside the box and wanted us to have a personal and special celebration of life for my father. Our whole family can’t thank each of them enough for letting us turn the viewing area into a miniature wooded, lake venue with fish my dad had caught along with pine branches and logs. Mary and Kora helped me setup and made it “fun”

There are no words to describe the amount of genuine care and compassion John Paul and his staff had for my family and I. Losing my mother at a young age and so unexpectedly I wasn’t prepared as it wasn’t something that we talked about, I didn’t know where to start or what to do. John helped me through the whole process and walked me through what I needed to do and the options available all while doing so over the phone. Living out of state I didn’t know who I should call so I went online and chose Schilling based on the amount of information they share on their site. John and his team

John P Schilling was the funeral director I contacted after my mom’s passing. They are a family name that I know and trust. The entire experience from our first meeting to taking possession of my mothers remains has been nothing less than outstanding. John makes you feel at ease with your situation and arranging details seamless.
This experience has put my thoughts for future events into perspective. Thank you for all that you did! I am forever grateful.
