Preston-Schilling Funeral Home has been serving the Dixon area community for many years. We're thankful to be an important part of this community and will continue our longstanding legacy of helping families honor their loved ones. Our story began in 1904 when Herbert Morris first opened Morris Funeral Home at 123 E. First Street in Dixon.
By 1911, Walter Preston joined as a partner and the funeral home became Morris-Preston Funeral Home and Ambulance Service. It was in 1916 when Mr. Preston bought Mr. Morris' interest and became sole owner of Preston Funeral Home, and by 1937 the funeral home was relocated to its current location at 213 Crawford Ave. in Dixon.

Services
A traditional funeral, with a visitation or gathering time, gives family and friends an opportunity to offer condolences, share stories, and say goodbye. Whether open to all acquaintances or a small and private gathering, the familiarity of a traditional funeral and visitation can provide you with comfort and a sense of peace.
When you first begin the process of designing a funeral, the decisions you'll face might seem overwhelming at first. We're here to help you tackle the choices one by one and make the journey one of love, healing, and life celebration.
The process can be broken down into two stages: decisions regarding the service and how you'd like to honor your loved one's life, and decisions regarding how you'd like to care for your loved one's physical remains.Whether it's formal or informal, traditional or offbeat, a funeral provides an opportunity for family and friends to gather and support one another in taking the first steps of their healing journey.

To help you get started, below is some helpful information. But please feel free to contact us with any questions. When a loved one dies at home or somewhere that isn't a healthcare facility, you'll need to contact emergency personnel before they can be taken into our care.
Sometimes the thought of planning a funeral seems too difficult for those who've suffered a loss. We're here to help lighten your burden and remind you of the true value a ceremony can hold for you and your family. Coping with a loss is never easy, and services are an essential part of the recovery process.
After the funeral is over, a permanent memorial can provide family and friends with a dedicated place to continue their healing journey. The grieving process doesn't end when the funeral does. Oftentimes, the services are just the first steps to healing and recovery.
It can be hard for the bereaved to return to their regular routines so soon after the services are over, especially given the demands of the modern world and the limits that many employers place on allowed time for grieving.Creating a lasting tribute can give family and friends a permanent place to visit whan they need help feeling connected to the loved one who has passed.

Jesse and the entire Preston-Schilling Funeral Home team are a top rated organization. Their professionalism, compassion, attention to detail and overall performance is unmatched. Over the past several years we entrusted several of our family members final wishes to the Preston- Schilling team. Our most recent loss was our mother Mary who passed away in July. Although a very difficult time the support we received made it bearable. The entire process from the initial planning to the graveside service and everything in between was done with the family’s wishes in mind. The Preston-Schilling team

Preston Schilling funeral home was very professional and sensitive to all our families needs. Beth took as much time with us as we needed, prior to and after the services. Know one ever wants to face a passing of a loved one, but we feel very fortunate to have chosen them to trust them with our loved one.
