Well, my experience here has been touch and go over the years. I have used this YMCA by default mostly because of its convenience for me and my family.
The variety if classes they offer, times available. Age groups they accommodate, andmuch more is awful. I have difficulty with registration every single Glenn session. It is a huge stress.
Up to you if you want to take it on. It does have a gymnastics team that has

I wish they would answer their phones and return emails. I have emailed several times with no response and have tried to call multiple times to speak with a person. Every time I get the same recording and am sent to voicemail. Nobody returns my call. I am left with no choice but to cancel my membership. They are missing their mark when it comes to customer service :-(

I LOVE this Y and can't say enough good things about it! The instructors are all very fit and do an excellent job of motivating us, whether it's cycling, weight training, high intensity cardio, yoga, dance...need I go on? The front desk staff are very welcoming. The cleaning staff keep the entire place meticulously clean. The equipment is top notch and there's plenty of it. During the lockdown they did outdoor classes under a tent, always with our safety in mind. When I need to work out in my own I can always find a place to call my own. Thanks Tom Taylor YMCA for helping me keep

These are the rudest people I have ever encountered working with our children. I received three consecutive calls from a Pierce County YMCA and when I returned the call the woman was very rude and asked me to stop calling. it was the first time I had called and she said they were getting repeated calls and after I had informed her that I was getting repeated calls from that number. I would never put my children in a place where someone who talks to the public the way she talked to me is working. if she hit does not have the proper conduct to speak to an adult how was she talking to your children

Agree with the $$$ passes :-( And the amount of paperwork for Grandparents and Family Friends to watch the kids. Perhaps an extra "safe-guard" but seems a bit over the top...BIG WIN is They really do love on Families here and go out of their way to show kids how to get and remain FITness minded. A very healthy space for all ages! Thank you. The sports programs are grounded on the YMCA core values and seek to teach, coach, and mentor our youth and leaders of both today and tomorrow...Tons of fitness classes! Climbing wall. Pool. Steam Sauna in the locker room. You will love this place

Overpriced for what you get and almost everything is extra. Signed my teen up for the swim team then they raised the price to be the same as for an official swim team but the size of the pool is small, the lanes are over filled so they are swimming on top of each other and there isn't consistency with the coaching. They claim they are for the community but all I see is a money grab. They didn't care that so many swimmers had to leave because of the price change. Looked at seeing what else my teen could do that the Y and everything else I looked at was an extra cost too.

Overcrowded/ Dropped my membership due to many yoga and aerobic classes being full to overflowing. Also-Disappointing that Y decided to double the guest fee to $20 -a lot of adults like to play an hour or 2 of BBall but pretty expensive now. Y is one of the largest nonprofits w substantial public donations. Not ok that rates keep going up. Perhaps rate increases and high guest pass fees are a means to control excess numbers of members-clearly they don't want guests using the facilities

First time I called I spoke with a really sweet lady about having my family joining the ymca. I called a couple minutes later for clarification on prices and was greeted on the phone by someone named terry I think. She was extremely rude when I asked for prices and completely turned me off on starting the process.

I ended up cancelling my membership due to how overcrowded this YMCA is. It just wasn't worth the stress of people and kids running around screaming. The variety of equipment and classes were a huge plus and I would have stayed if it ended up being a quieter place to work out. If you're looking for somewhere your family can have a generalized nonchalant fitness routine or someone who wants to try all the group classes, this might work for you. But if you're a single adult trying to focus and get serious about your routine, or want to swim (like even once) try a smaller more adult

The UW-Tacoma/YMCA at 17th and Market St is a great place to work out with lots of windows and lots of machines. Unfortunately, the staff focuses on young adults (h.s. and college age) so decisions about workout equipment is based on that group. The reclining stationary bikes that older clients might use are always moved when making decisions about placement of new cardio equipment. I have mentioned this in the past. I'm sure the Y does not want a Age Discrimination complaint filed against them.

Friendly staff, clean and well organized Facility, energetic and fun classes for both children and adults, and very welcoming community! As a family with four children I have been able to find fun programs to fit all their Desires and needs. I as well have found classes that I can attend daily to get a great workout and enjoy being around fun and friendly people. I can not say enough nice things about the amazing staff, volunteers and community.
I must add that the child watch staff has been nothing less than AMAZING with all four of my little ones. They are patient, kind, and understanding while

I had a membership for 2 months but only went three times. I was too intimidated by the swarming groups of people and crowdedness in the weights area so I ended up having to do cardio which wasn't even my goal. No machines/weights, no space, and way too many people.
Not only that but we enrolled my sister in a swim class and paid for it but she wasn't even on the roster for her class. I had to go run around and ask like 4 staff members.

I write this review from the perspective of someone that only has uses for and interest in the weights, machines, and cardio equipment. If I were inclined to go to the classes, use the courts, or swimming pool my review may be one star higher.
The equipment at this facility is top notch, no question about it. They have some of the latest Precore, Life Fitness, and cardio machines that you can think about. They also do a pretty good job of keeping it clean and organized, from what I can tell.
Unfortunately, what they do NOT have is sufficient space or sufficient numbers of weight machines to

This YMCA is fairly new and definitely the nicest looking YMCA I've used. The building and facility itself is huge, but there are major shortcomings when it comes to the layout and use of space. Given the size of the building, the weight lifting area should be at least double what it is currently. The swimming pool area is fairly large and used mostly by kids. There's a good amount of cardio equipment but only four Stairmasters!
The soap in the men's restroom needs to be refilled daily. Nine out of 10 times, the soap dispenser is empty. It's so simple, just have someone
