Dr. Sam's Eye Care: the Upper Valley's eye doctor, serving the fine folks of New Hampshire and Vermont from our office in Claremont. Eye care is something we all need, and straight talk is the best way to get advice. Easy to understand. Easy to follow. It's the kind of talk you hear from Dr. Sam and the folks at Dr. Sam's Eye Care.
Dr. Sam is a dedicated medical professional who knows that all doctors get the medical fundamentals. It's a lot harder to learn personable, chair-side manner. And both qualities are a must in an eye care provider. That's why, when you visit Dr. Sam's Eye Care, you find that everyone you work with is an eye care pro--as well as the best kind of people person.

Dr. Sam's path to optometry could hardly be more classic. He was inspired by an eye doctor from his youth, and followed a path that took him to the University of California at Berkeley--the world's foremost optometric research institution. Today, when he's not treating his fellow New Englanders, Dr. Sam helps educate tomorrow's eye doctors as an adjunct clinical faculty member with the New England College of Optometry.
Mary comes to optometry from a long and varied career as both an entrepreneur (as founder of the award-winning World's Greatest Ice Cream Company) and a manager for national companies (including Starbucks, GAP and Pinkberry). The one common denominator in all of her pursuits has been an intense focus on customer experience, with the goal of welcoming a happy patron who leaves even happier.
Amanda has been with Dr. Sam's since 2013. She admits to being quite nearsighted, and understands how being able to see well impacts her own life. Amanda has empathy for folks with vision challenges, loves helping others see well, and enjoys connecting with patients.
When Amanda's not at the office, she likes hiking, reading, hanging out with her family, and watching movies (she says she's seen the coming-of-age baseball film, The Sandlot, over 200 times). She also enjoys auto racing (as a spectator) and is thrilled to be able to read the numbers on the cars as they fly past.

Kyla's favorite activity on the job at Dr. Sam's Eye Care is engaging with patients-a useful skill for someone whose work includes making sure patients are happy with their vision. Outside of work, Kyla likes listening to music and reading. Her favorite book is Pride and Prejudice. Her favorite movie is a tossup between 10 Things I Hate About You and Napoleon Dynamite.
Educated not only in medical billing, but as a medical assistant, Cathy has been assisting doctors since the 1990s before moving into billing in 2014. Working with pages of numbers all day long, Cathy knows intimately that it helps to have great vision and is grateful for hers. When her husband retired from the military and they returned to the Upper Valley in 2016, Dr. Sam's Eye Care was fortunate to be able to snap her up.

The receptionist today was so rude that we ended up walking out we went in to get glasses and they couldn't even help us fit them to our child. We asked to make an appointment for our other child and we got back "busy" and she closed the window. Will be looking else ware for glasses as our child can't use the ones from there because they are to tight and the refused to help adjust the glasses after driving over an hour to get there. Worst place ever.

It was a great appointment!! Everyone was so nice and kind. With their help I picked a very fun pair of glasses. I can’t wait to pick them up then they are ready!! My existing glasses were missing a nose piece so they offered to put one on. They replaced the old one with a new one… so now I have nose pieces..so much for comfortable. It is the little things that mean so much!!!!

The very best, most comprehensive eye exam ever! Check this out:.. The Dr. knew just by looking into my eyes that I get motion sickness. How is that possible? But it's true. I highly recommend Dr. Sam and his staff; they were wonderful. Oh and and the best part is; he's going to be able to correct my double vision and help with the motion sickness with a change in my lenses. --thank you Dr. Sam
