The company was originally founded in 2015 by UVA's football captain, Alec Vozenilek. One year later, Jake Harrison opened up the Northern Virginia/Washington, D.C. Metro Branch. D1 Moving began with a commitment to meeting each customer's unique needs and one simple idea: "Moving Made Simple!"

D1 Moving operates within a 16,000 sq ft warehouse in Richmond, VA. Our team of full-service warehouse staff manages the inventory and tracking for all items in our posession. We offer secure storage solutions; overnight or long-term, for any customer. D1 Moving's team of professionals handles the loading and unloading services, in addition to the shrink-wrapped, pad-wrapped, or boxed furniture protection of all items.
After confirming your order of moving materials, a D1 Moving representative will schedule a time for your pick-up. I have waited since January to give this company a review for I was and still am furious with them. They damaged many items, said they would get them repaired and then never returned my calls to the office even though I provided my new telephone number to them repeatedly. They never brought the furniture/framed photos/etc. that they kept to get repaired back to me. I live less than a half mile from their office on Bethlehem Road. I have found pieces of my antique furniture broken off of the furniture and then placed back to look like all was fine. The moving people were not what I expected,

THIS COMPANY IS WORTH IT!!! I loved the fact that it is a local company and they accommodated all my needs. The movers were super efficient, thoughtful of my things and great to work with. Unexpected things always happen when moving but all and all I give them an A++. Will definitely use them when I move back home!

Although the movers offered us the lowest price, the service matched the cost. Over half of the pieces of furniture they delivered were irreparably damaged. Some looked like they had been dragged across the asphalt driveway. The packing was careless (books and papers shoved in boxes) and in some cases non-existent. A desk was moved without unloading contents, so small pieces were everywhere. Management was unhelpful to packers and wouldn't open warehouse when they ran out of paper to pack. Would not use again or recommend to anyone. Very disappointing experience.

Would highly recommend hiring these guys for a move any day. They were helpful, well equipped, and extremely effective in moving me completely out of one place and into another. Everything they moved for me made it to the new place with no scratches, breaks, or damage. A very friendly crew as an added bonus, would absolutely hire them again.

I used D1 for a complicated move on one of the hottest days in July. The team had to pack my bedroom and living area on the truck, then get stuff from my storage unit. The move was from Richmond to NOVA (always a fun trip) and we had to unload at my new place, plus a storage unit. Then, they headed back to RVA. Through the whole process the guys were friendly, fun, and easy going. My electronics were all carefully wrapped, and my furniture was padded. I'm not totally thrilled with the packing job in the NOVA storage unit, but it was hellaciously hot, and they had a long drive ahead of

I did a ton of research and got several estimates... D1 wasn't the lowest estimate (and therefore the riskiest, in my opinion) but they were not the highest by a long shot. I got a good feeling when dealing with James ("Jake") their rep in the Northern Virginia area... he was responsive, thorough, and seemed trustworthy. I'm glad I went with them... my instincts were correct. They handled what ended up being a very disorganized move (all my fault) with great professionalism, tact and incredible hard work. It was one of the summer's hotter days and the guys worked tirelessly

This has got to be the worst moving company ever. It took them 2 days to move my things even though I only had furniture in 2 rooms. They did so much damage to my good pieces of furniture, destroyed my computer desk and the computer chair never made it here. They broke my temperpedic ergo base which cost over $1000 and can not be fixed. I have called him several times about when he will be sending someone over to fix the nicks and dings and to find out where my computer chair is. The list goes on and on, but if you are smart, use another moving company.
