Services
Foothill Optometric Group has spent more than 38 years providing leading medical eye care for Pleasanton patients and their families. Now, with Total Vision behind us, we have even more ways to keep your eyes healthy and your vision sharp. When you visit our practice, you'll see a clear difference in the way we do things.
Eye diseases and vision problems need to be diagnosed before they can be corrected, treated, or managed. An eye exam lets your optometrist find these problems so appropriate action can be taken to protect your eye health and vision. Many eye diseases can lead to severe vision loss without medical intervention, and you might not recognize them by yourself.
Foothill Optometric Group takes the unique eye care needs of children just as seriously as those of adults. You want your kids to grow up with healthy eyes, and so do we. Our practice is designed to be an environment where children can learn about their eyes in comfort and safety as we test them for eye problems.
When you live with diabetes, you also live with an increased risk for eye diseases like glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, and diabetic macular edema. Since these diseases don't always come with apparent symptoms, an eye doctor may be the only one who can spot them before they severely impact your vision.
Whether you want a brief break from glasses or an everyday lifestyle change, our eye doctors will help you find contacts that suit your needs. A contact lens exam is your first step toward getting contact lenses. It's like an eye exam with some additional questions and measurements to help us match you with the right products.

In the past I've gotten three pairs of glasses from here...only one ended up usable. Ends up the optician didn't know the effects of too much magnification for an astigmatism creates distortion and that taller lens are needed for progressives...even after going back they were unable to figure out the issue. It was only after changing optometrists (and ironical ending up going to see one that used to be @Foothill) and explaining the issue with those glasses that I was able to get an explanation and resolution. Wish I hadn't ended up wasting +$500 at Foothill.

I was referred here by a friend. I went online to book the appointment and it said I would receive a confirmation email. 4 days later no email. I called and was told it was only a request. I’m good with that but I should have rectangular email telling me the time wasn’t available. Instead, I got nothing. Not a great first impression.

I've been a patient at Foothill Optometric for over a decade, and when I went to make an appointment with my long-term doctor, I learned that Foothill was acquired/partnered with Total Vision and that almost every doctor left with the change. It was obvious that the staff was brand new, and service reflected that. I had to wait 30+ minutes for my appointment to start, the checkout process was slow, and in general the office didn't seem organized anymore. The new doctor I was assigned questioned my medical history, and another technician didn't pay attention to my chart before asking

One star is generous. My husband ordered glasses on 9/24; we were told it would take two weeks to get them back from the lab. After three weeks and at least 10 voicemails to the office they told us they were ready but when we went to pick them up they hadn't ordered the necessary prisms. He was seeing double. At first the tech said "you will get used to it" until I pushed and we were brought back to see the doctor again to get the prism prescription ordered. They were going to expedite this process. It is now two months since his first appt. I have left AT LEAST a dozen unreturned

This is not the same place we know of anymore. Our family has been going to this place for years. Now almost all the optometrists we know have left. It seems they are squeezing appts back to back. If you are late for a few mins they would reschedule your appt and said they don't have enough time to help you. Very frustrating! Time to move on...

I have been a patient at Foothill Optometric for over 35 years but with the retirement of Dr Liu, sadly, I needed to find a new doctor. My daughter recommended hers—Dr. Yang. This was the right choice. It took a long time to get in to see him (over 2 months), but it was worth the wait. The staff is friendly and helpful. The office clean and organized.

They never answer the phone. I have called them several time to reschedule the appointment but it goes straight to voice message. I left voice message as well but they are not calling me back. This makes me feels like they don't care for there customers. I am giving up and scheduling appointment with another practice.

The staff at Foothill Optometry were very professional and personable. They kindly adhered to safety guidelines throughout my visit. Optometric assistants were also very capable and personable. Dr. Andrew Yang is an excellent optometrist. He took time to understand my needs and special circumstances. He provided advice and insight that will be very helpful to my ability to manage my eyesight needs. I’ve never realized that there could be multiple solutions to different eyesight needs. I look forward to returning for new glasses to meet my specific needs.

From checking in to choosing new glasses, everyone is efficient, friendly, and professional! The offices are clean and up to date. Selection of frames is great, I always have a hard time picking just one! Dr. Staples is amazing, and I am sure the other physicians are also! The staff that assist with choosing frames are sooo helpful! Shout out to Ally for letting me try on a TON of frames and having such patience with my indecisiveness! Highly recommend Foothill Optometric Group!

About 3 weeks ago we ordered glasses for my father worth of $450, the person that was putting the order in told us that our glasses/frames purchase comes with 2 years warranty. Today when we picked up the glasses we have been told that is not the case and that THEY have recently found out that their manufacturer doesn't offer 2 years warranty. I spoke to the unprofessional clinic manager named Andrew, who with a rude tone told me that there is nothing that he can do, i said its not our fault that your employee gave us wrong information he rudely said to me that its my problem not theirs. They couldn't make our sons glasses correctly. We were told that if they weren't right we could return them within 30 days. We had them remade a second time and they still weren't right so we asked for a refund. They told us we would have to pay for the lab because their lab couldn't make them and they had to send them out to another lab. They ended up deducting $130 off of what we paid, and now we have to wait for them to send a check out to us, meanwhile our son is still having to use his old glasses that work better than the new ones they tried to make twice. Not very good

Dr. Longacre is an exceptional physician. She is very patient and conscientious and always works very hard to provide me with the best possible vision solution. I would rate her at A-plus. However, the rest of the experience at Foothill Optometric I would rate a C-minus at best. Over the years well more than 50% of my glasses have had to be redone, with the most recent pair having to be redone a third time! In an endless pattern of calls, unanswered messages and waiting for weeks, everyone is very apologetic but no one takes accountability for getting it right the first time.

One of the most ridiculous service. All good people have left this facility leaving behind bunch of people who are along with being incompetent, are rude and racist. If you still have to visit them because you having already scheduled appointments or orders placed, stay away from Christine. She is the worst amongst all, unwilling to do her own job and say ridiculous things to customers.

Impressed. I needed to order sunglasses and my insurance covers some of that cost. Unlike so many other optometric groups, Foothill Opt, was able to help me quickly and NOT increase the price based on how much my insurance covered.
I understand that there is a usually a price difference with / without insurance but it should not be based on the amount covered. I can't tell you how many different optometric groups I called and would adjust the price of the sunglasses 30-40% once they determined how much my insurance plan covered. I worked with someone named Sugi who made it super easy and

Totally do not recommend if you're looking for an optical sunglasses. After a week of my purchase they called me back saying that the frame I selected turned to be too big and lab is asking for additional money for some special glasses. This is in addition to oversize fee they charged me at purchase. Total incompetence. If you're experienced specialists there you had to know which frames will require even bigger lenses than oversized. Wasted my time for nothing.

I recommend Dr Chen. Thank you so much Dr Chen. These are the best glasses I have ever had. I told Dr Chen during my visit that I had to lift my head up to see the computer screen at work. Same with looking in the mirror. She fixed all that that with my new glasses. I can see myself in the mirror and see the computer screen looking straight ahead. I can read so much better with these glasses as well. The progressives are perfect in how she ordered them. I even had a custom sunglass attachment made. I have the polycarbonate which makes the lens thin and not thick. The glasses fit perfect. I couldn
