Since 1932 Whiting's Funeral Home has dutifully ministered to families in the Williamsburg and surrounding communities with caring and dignified service. Whiting's realizes that during difficult times families need to be given guidance, support, and assurance that their loved one will be well taken care of. Most importantly, our services will provide and give your family peace of mind. If there are ever any questions, please feel free to call the funeral home or send us an e-mail.
Services
In the year 1868, in Richmond, Virginia, a family whose infant had passed approached Henry Cooke, a free Black man skilled in cabinet and furniture making about a casket. Henry purchased lumber and made a baby casket. He later made a second casket and placed it in front of his building on 16th and Broad Street.
When planning a service, you have many options available to you and we will do all that we can to provide a beautiful and respectful ceremony. No matter your choice, we can offer you a space to join with family and friends in grief, comfort and love. And above all, we will do our utmost to honor your loved one.
Our staff is comprised of dedicated and licensed professionals with the experience to answer all your questions regarding our services. Please feel free to contact any of our staff members at any time. Pastor Christopher Stone is the youngest son of the late Mr. William T. Stone and the husband of Pastor Alicia L. Stone.
When it comes to your final arrangements, shouldn't you make the decisions? The arrangements you make will reflect your exact wishes and desires. Pre-arranging your own service will help to ease the burden of your loved ones. It will also alleviate any questions, problems or differences, which can occur among family members.
Meaningful memorialization of a loved one's passing can transform, heal, and comfort us. It highlights our loved ones' sacrifices, reminds us of the things that they value, and inspires us with their life stories. Have the Talk of a Lifetime, a program created by The Funeral and Memorial Information Council, was designed to help families have meaningful conversations about the things that matter most in their lives.
