Nina is amazing! Unfortunately I am not as lucky to be able to use her service on a regular basis since I live in FL. I visit my daughter once a year. This time Nina was so nice to take me the same day as I called.

I really needed a haircut and a style-fix and my usual stylist was swamped, but I thought I'd dip my toe in by getting a consult first. I set a late afternoon appointment and on my way there...low tire pressure light came on. I pulled into a garage and called Nina to say I would not make it. She said she would wait for me -- how nice is that? Turned out this was my day because the garage dealt with the tires in a flash. Salon Elegante is conveniently located in Orinda across from Theater Square. They offer excellent professional service and it's easy to schedule appointments.
The owner Nina is lovely, I see her monthly for hair colors and hair cuts every other month and she makes sure my hair looks the best.
She did a beatiful hair style and make up for my wedding celebration. I highly recommend this hair salon!

Called on a Saturday morning and was told to come in Saturday afternoon for a haircut and color. This was awesome to be able to come in on such late notice. My hair had been dead and "boring" for about the last year. Texted Nina for color consultation which was super convenient and easy. Walked into my appointment, was greeted and offered something to drink.

I rarely write a review but after so many compliments on my highlights, I had to write this one! I can go on for ever on how much I like this place and Nina , I have been coming to Nina for 3 years. She is super friendly and incredibly talented with hair. She always listens and knows exactly what to do with your hair to make you gorgeous! The atmosphere in the salon is so warm and relaxing that I feel like family every time I walk into it . They always offer something to drink ; tea, coffee, wine ...

Avoid her!!!! I don't see how everyone has such positive reviews when I am nearly in tears every day because she set the dryer too high and put the height very low touching my scalp. I said this is hot and uncomfortable, but she was across the room and didn't come back. My daughter was worried. She must have seen the result and said nothing chatting away, but she styled to hide it. When I washed it myself it was like I'm 70 years old with nothing back there and a part down my head! I called her and she was incredibly condescending about how impossible it is to cause damage like that with the hair

Nina Kilani does the best hair cuts, doesn't overcharge but I most like that Nina is a wonderful person; genuine, pleasant, caring. I get a shaped or layered men's cut. Proof that it is a good cut is that it still looks great at even six weeks; not lumpy or off-center. The color I've seen her do also looks great.

It was easy to text her for an appointment.
And most of all I love my new haircut. (So does all my friends and husband.)
Nina listened to what I wanted. I was even more impressed when she said she was analyzing the shape of my head to figure out the best way to cut my hair in a complementing way. Basically I have a flat head in the back; she tried to cut it in a way to create more volume where I needed it.
Will definitely be going back to NINA for all my future haircuts. FYI I've been searching for my go to hair stylist for many years now between SF or East Bay...and

Salon Elegante is a gem of a salon! Come and see Nina, she owns the salon and is the best stylist I have ever had!!!
I have been a fashion stylist on photo shoots for 20 years, so I know the beauty business pretty well and therefore very fussy about who I hand myself to- this lady knows her stuff.
I think one of Nina's biggest assets is her skill in an overall beauty look; she advises me on makeup, color, skincare, threading (Nina has a full setup for all these at the salon) and is on point in terms of what is current.
Last word, I am moving from Orinda to Saint Helena and will DEFINITELY

Nina Niku, the owner, is a crazy good colorist and she can expertly cut hair too! She's very kind, and unassuming and blows you away with the results. Also, she doesn't overcharge, even in classy and well heeled Orinda which is so refreshing ! I've gone to Nina for several months and I can recommend her 100%. The salon is low key, she'll make you a fresh cup of tea or joe, and it's always feel like I've been on retreat when I leave! GO!
