In 1932 a new car cost about $600, and my great-grandfather, Ben Berounsky, opened a body shop here in Portsmouth because the only guy in town repairing cars was the local blacksmith. Ben truly enjoyed repairing cars, and taught his son, Henry. My grandfather, Henry, took over in 1937, then in 1942 temporarily closed the shop because everyone went off to fight in World War II.
A proper and safe collision repair is not a matter of opinion.it is a matter of correct procedure. We use Chief EZ Liners for unmatched vehicle frame repair precision. This repair system gently and accurately pulls out damage, returning your vehicle to the manufacturer's precise specifications. Finish work is also vital for restoring the look of your vehicle.
Ben's Auto Body, Inc. does not condone nor participate in direct repair programs and does not recommend any insurance company that does. We respect the rights of all customers to choose the collision repair facility of their choice. It is illegal for any insurance company to force a customer to use a certain body shop.
We will encourage you to ask questions about how a vehicle is repaired and about your vehicle's safety systems, airbags, energy management and crumple zones as we walk you through the entire repair process. We will handle all the details with your insurance company and/or assist you in processing your claim through your insurance or the other party's.
Today's vehicles are made much safer. In fact, every new car built by the manufacturer now exceeds Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. But, unfortunately, there's no regulatory agency that monitors real world collision repairs. Because preserving your factory warranty and protecting you and your family's safety is at the heart of every collision repair we do.

There aren't many drive thru burger places I like up here. I was spoiled with a lot of selection in Texas, so much so that I never bothered with the Wendy's, Mcds or burger kings of the world. This is the place I get my burgers now. The fries are great. Their nuggets are good too. Wife loves their spicy chicken sandwich.

A few weeks back a deer ran infront of my vehicle and my vehicle sustained damage but was still drivable. After doing some research on the best auto body shops around, Ben's came up first. So after dealing with my insurance company they had me go to the body shop to get an estimate of the damage. I called first to ask some questions because I'm a newer driver, with this being my first "accident". I talked with Beth and she told me exactly what to do and what to expect from the process. First time at Ben's after a truck door opened into my parked car, causing a couple significant dents with paint damage. Within 15 minutes of it happening, I gave them a call, swung by for an estimate and dropped the car off (other person at fault). Jake from Ben's was GREAT. Set me up with a rental and I was on my way. He was in touch once before I went to get my car (to ask me a question on damage) and when swung by grab it, the work they did was outstanding. The door looked brand new. Honest, hardworking people. If I ever have to go to a body shop again, or have an opportunity to recommend one

Great service. After my accident, I called and went straight to them. They handled the insurance I had and provide me a clean rental that ran well. Insurance delays caused me to wait longer, but, I wasn't charged for rental fees when my insurance coverage stopped. My car looks great. I have had service in the past with Ben's and I have always been satisfied. Friendly staff.

This is not the first time I have used Ben's Auto Body for my car repairs but it has been some years in between. I have recently purchased a new Jeep and with 2000 miles on it I got slammed into by a speeder who ran a red light. Thought the jeep was totaled but being so new the insurance company did not want to do that, if they were going to fix it I knew I wanted it done right so I said bring it to Bens. Leon at Bens helped me every step of the way with dealing with my insurance carrier I appreciated his help and the staff at Bens was professional all the way through the process, Car came out

I have used Ben's twice now and cannot rave enough about them. You do not need to worry about getting a fair price or hidden fees as they are upfront, honest, and try to get you the best deal possible. The communication is next level and it comes with untouchable customer service. Leon is so kind and patient, and he makes sure you understand what is going on every step of the way. They even cleaned my interior which made picking the car up even sweeter! You're in great hands here!

I never had any work done here, but I included them in my 3 bids to get some minor repair work done on my car - funded by me, not my insurance company. They were by far the highest by almost double. I can't speak to the quality of their work, I'm sure it's excellent. But I was amazed that they could've come up with such a high price for the same exact work, when most of these estimates are done based on standard procedures and pricing. They have a good reputation and have been in the area for a while, but I would be sure to shop around, especially if you're paying out-of

They were absolutely wonderful to work with! I believe it was Matt that worked on my car and he was extremely nice and did an amazing job. My bumper had to be replaced it was seamless and was done within 3 days! I also ended up calling while they were working on the bumper and getting them to look at some dents in my hood, they repaired them that day I was then able to pick up my car that night! Would highly recommend and hopefully don't need to use them again anytime soon, but will definitely come here if I need any work done. OH they also vacuumed and cleaned up the inside of my car it looked

I have terrible anxiety about cars. I hate dealing with insurance companies, I hate dealing with people trying to pull a fast one on me and I absolutely HATE trying to figure out the quality of the people I am dealing with. I moved to the New England area in December so I didn't really know anything about what shops to use after I ran over something in the road, but literally everyone I met recommended me to Bens and with good cause. I was fighting with the insurance company for two weeks with very little progress.... but then I dropped my car off at Bens and they are now taking care of EVERYTHING

When I was rear ended by the other party, his insurance company did well by me, explaining I could go to a Liberty Mutual Care Shop, and they would do and estimate and LM would pay for repairs and my rental. Their shop did a fast, efficient, fair estimate which I was willing to have my car repaired there, but...knowing Ben's had been a reputable auto body for years, I decided to see what is the difference. Brought my Ford Edge here after it was hit twice, on two different instances. I brought it in for two price quotes which were done within 15 minutes and then scheduled to bring it in for repair a few weeks later. Beth took care of everything! We showed up to drop the Edge off and the car rental was ready and all we had to do was take care of some paperwork and we were on our way. Picked the edge up yesterday and once again, Beth had taken care of all of the paperwork with the insurance companies and we were on our way. The car looks great, excellent workmanship.
