The Pickled Loon ownership team was looking to open a place that encompassed everything the average consumer in central Minnesota would want to come out for! This place is super different from day to night.. during the day it's laid back and a favorite for food and good drinks. On Friday and Saturday nights it's a club for college kids though.. we're talking wall to wall people, music so loud you can't think, and 2 levels of chaos. If that's your jam, enjoy! Otherwise I recommend visiting during the day or weekday evenings. Staff is very capable!

I ordered the Pad Thai and looked like a microwaveable meal (not that I know what those look like - I don't eat them). The taste was too spicy without flavor. I couldn't eat it. Extremely disappointed. Also, I tried to look past the dirty kitchen you could see when going to the bathroom and would have forgotten if the food was good. It needs to be cleaned up. Maybe some of the other food is good but don't expect anything for the pad Thai.

OMG! With the wonderful choice of vegetarian or omnivore items coupled with the extensive tap, wine, and drink mix, this place would stand out in any city. It shines here and is a must try. Go for the drinks. Stay for the food. Then marvel at the class and perfection of the staff. I'm going back and you should give it a try.

This place is a jewel: simple, clean, nice staff though I did wait a bit longer than I think appropriate before anyone spoke to me.
Full transparency: I visited here twice today - one early afternoon and one early evening. I'm combining my experiences into one review.
As always when I go to a pub, I was looking for a brown ale. None were to be had. Disappointing, but honestly in the current market I've come to expect it.
I ended up getting a gin&tonic and a rum& coke. Both well made. I'm particularly picky about gin&tonic, and this one (poured by JP) was perfect.

It was a hot, steamy midsummer afternoon and we were looking for a cool place to grab a bite and liquid refreshment. The Pickled Loon fit the bill sensationally on all accounts. The dimly-lit, air-conditioned classic bar was a welcome relief to the sun's glare and the excellent drink selection aided immensely. We started with some seasoned chips and side salads not expecting much, but were soon raving about how delicious both were. One doesn't often comment about how perfect a side salad is, but these were and it was just the appetizer. The nearly perfect shrimp tacos arrived soon afterwards

We stopped in lunch on Saturday. The place was warm and inviting and staff could not have been more welcoming & friendly. The food was amazing. The cheese curds were simply the best I've had in my 56 years. The Cashew salad was excellent and we loved the sweet chili Chicken Chunks. It was was first visit but it definitely won't be our last. Actually we may go there tonight too!

I absolutely love the Pickled Loon! We stop everything we are passing through and I am never disappointed in the food. They have amazing Pad Thai, Mac and Cheese, burgers, sandwiches, apps, and cocktails. The Roasted Turkey Poutine is fanatic. I also really enjoyed the shrimp burger. They have a decent beer list, but also have various infused vodkas. My favorite was the dill pickle vodka which was used to make an awesome dill pickle martini. The staff is always super friendly and exceptional! I don't think I could go to Saint Cloud without stopping here!

What can I say?! I make it a point to stop at The Pickled Loon every time I am in St Cloud. Not only my favorite restaurant in the area but arguably my favorite in MN. When dive bar meets finer dining. You wouldn't expect much upon arrival of the list low lit rail bar with a few dining tables but when you get the menu and start seeing dishes go by you know you have stumbled upon greatness.

This place was incredible! A friend recommended it and the reviews were right on. The service was exceptional with wait staff very friendly and helpful. I decided on the Pickled Loon burger but wanted to try the cheese curd because I heard they were amazing. The waitress allow the substitution!
The food preparation was fast. Under 15 minutes which was good because the place was pretty busy. We ordered some appetizers which came out in about 5 minutes. FRIED BRUSSEL SPROUTS were very tasty and I HATE Brussel sprouts! These were made with their legendary honey, loon juice and maple syrup

Great service and amazing food. Really enjoy the beers they have on tap and they are always updating and have new things to try. They have a nice space downstairs for eating and a small space for acoustic musicians. Upstairs they have a great space for dancing and larger bands. There is also a bar upstairs so you don't have to go up and down the stairs during the shows. All in all, a really great place that is spaced out a little ways from all the other hustle and bustle of downtown St. Cloud.

First time experience at The Pickled Loon. When we initially walked in we had doubts and almost walked right out. Good thing we didn't because we enjoyed everything we ordered. The Loon Burger was fantastic and cooked to perfection. My wife loved the Chicken Alfredo. She is quite picky and gave it an 8.5 out of 10. The dry rub wings were quite good with a little heat. My daughter who always gets mac n cheese ordered that particular meal and rated it below Kraft mac n cheese, but still liked it. The service was quite good but there was an error in the bill that needed correction. All in all it is

SUPER content with my pick of stopping at the pickled loon which driving up north. I ordered the portobello sandwich, and though messy, I finished wanting more! My boyfriend ordered wings and a cup of the Cajun corn chowder, and was equally as happy with his choice. Would 100% recommend to those in St. Cloud.

I was really looking forward to visiting The Pickled Loon. The good news is that the outdoor seating on a beautiful summer evening was great. There seemed to be a lack of servers for the outside area and service was sparse. The cheese curds were pretty salty and cooked into some large chunks which meant when you tried to take one, you took about five. The carnitas tacos (on corn tortillas) allow for flour or corn tortilla choice and come with three. After reading many of the reviews, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, they were not met, with one caveat. The cheese curds here are amazing. They are the closest I've found to the cheese curds that you might find at a fair, but slightly different. They're flavored with dill, and are served with a maple honey sauce. I'd return here just for the curds.

The Pickled Loon serves up some traditional Northwoods favorites along with some innovative takes on bar food. The vibe in the spacious bar / restaurant is laid back and the mood is very chill. The whole place is kind of dark, so I suppose it could make for a nice date place. I ate at the bar and the bartender was very friendly and helpful.

Awesome place!! Great loud music, cold local beer. Had the shrimp tacos, super fresh ingredients, asparagus was good. Also asked for an Old Fashioned, tasted good. Highly recommend The Pickled Loon, great patio out front. Was very busy for a Tuesday night, but hats off to the staff that hustled to keep the house happy. Saw their specialty drink menu, looked very good. Stop by next time you are downtown St Cloud.

Very cool place and friendly owners. The food is great and has some awesome variety on the menu to explore. I experienced having the fish tacos and meatloaf. The meatloaf blew my mind, it was homemade which made it even better.
The owner made me pinemoquito which was pretty good and sweet of her to make a special cocktail for me.
The only issue was the service was slow. Maybe increasing the staff would help.

There is an extensive number of beers on tap. Our waiter told us them all but I wish we were given a menu! We opted for the Lune Juice Strawberry Shandy and it was delicious. I thought it was a cider it was so light.
I order the fish tacos, 2 flour tortillas and one corn tortilla. I asked for avocado on the side and they were out of it so the waitress had them give me guacamole and I t was delicious. It was the pineapple guacamole from the appetizer menu. The fish portions were big and tasted really fresh. I loved this.
