Family Tree Service
Travis, the owner, went into the tree business in 1997 directly out of high school. Working with another large tree company for the first few years, gave him the insight that people needed a company that would actually take their time, do the job right, and build client relationships. 2000-2003 - 'Family Tree' was in the making.

First we registered 'Family Tree Service LLC' with the state of MN. We purchased our first set of climbing & rigging gear, a set of Arborist pruning tools, multiple city licenses and an insurance policy. Then we began doing maintenance work on small to medium sized trees for residents and other business owners throughout the Twin Cities.
Services
Everyone is aware that we need to conserve energy. What about the work trees are doing for us? Big $ is lost every year paying for improper tree services, resulting in tree decline and trees dying, in turn losing more money on recovery and replacement efforts. An arborist (or tree surgeon) is a professional in the practice of arboriculture, the management and maintenance of trees.
There are many different trees in all sorts of locations. There are also many people with different ideas on what should be taken off a tree during a trim. Often too much material is thought needed to be removed. This is a costly mistake, as it comprises tree health and safety. We can only offer healthy and safe pruning adjustments.
Have you ever seen a tree that was 'trimmed' by someone who didn't know what they're doing? This results in irreversible damage that can cause dieback to a portion or to a whole tree. By having our Arborist perform your tree pruning, you can be assured that no Climbing Spurs will be used unless specific requests are made, and that all our pruning protocol follows ANSI A300 standards.
In order to diagnose tree health, we must first look at the physical properties of trees in general. The outer layers, the 'Biological Tree', are where water is being transferred and living tissue is growing. The inner heartwood, the 'Mechanical Tree', makes up the interior structure of a tree. For a tree that appears healthy, very full and green, could actually have a heartwood failure, and be hollowing from the inside out.
Although we specialize in tree preservation and restoration work, we are also highly skilled in the removal of trees. Using two lines for control : the first rope (coming twards you) helps control movement from its current position, into an inverted position- the second rope (hanging straight down) is the bull line that will support the weight and allow the piece to be lowered safely to the ground.

Called Family Tree Service to quote maintenance of numerous trees around our property as well as a potential removal of a large ash tree near the house. They arrived the next morning and provided a thorough consultation, as well as competitive pricing. Did a great job removing several hundred pounds of branches from a locust tree that overhangs the street. Very responsive and easy to work with - highly recommend this company and we'll definitely call them when we're ready to remove the ash tree.

Called with a concern about a nice pine in my backyard and Travis came out that very afternoon to take a look. He trimmed the tree making it healthier and safer. Communicated with me the whole time, very knowledgeable and focused on the health of the tree.

Where is the 10 star option? I contacted 3 vendors looking for an estimate to remove a maple tree in our back yard. 2 of the vendors just didnt show and what a stroke of luck that was. Quick response time for an estimate and to my disbelief they showed on the day they told me. We talked about what needed to be done and with experience back to the late 90's I knew I found the right company. 3 days later yes 3 days after the estimate it was time to remove the tree. Communication was solid the entire way updating me to their arrival. The crew was polite and hard working. No damage occurred I had concerns

I needed a 30 year old Maple tree trimmed that was taking over my front yard. I had another company out in early spring who said it needed to be substantially cut back which involved removing several large limbs. I wanted a second opinion. I called Travis of Family Tree Service based on the many positive reviews. Travis came over the same day I called and said removing limbs would compromise the health and structural integrity of the tree. I hired him on the spot and he did the work that same day trimming and shaping the tree. Looks great! Travis is an experienced arborist who knows his business

Needed some trees and bushes trimmed, called Family Tree Service for a quote. Travis came out and gave me a good price so I accepted. I told Travis that I was having a new roof installed and would like to have the job done before that date. Travis and his crew showed up on the date scheduled and did an excellent job for the price quoted. After the job was completed Travis walked me through what was done to make sure I was happy and to see if I had any questions. I would definitely recommend Family Tree Service to my friends and family and will use them again in the future.

We first used Family Tree Service when a tornado came through our neighborhood and the strong winds caused our big pine tree to lean. We called a few tree services but Family Tree was the only one that came promptly, evaluated the tree and made recommendations. Travis (the company owner) told us the tree could be saved and advised us as to its continuing care. He returned on schedule and did a beautiful job in trimming the tree, removing invasive vine and cleaning the entire area of pine needles. His price was reasonable and we were very pleased with the work. It actually exceeded our expectations
