Entropion is the medical term used to describe an inward turning of the eyelid and eyelashes. The skin and eyelashes of the lower eyelid rub against the cornea (front part of the eye) and conjunctiva (membrane lining of the eye) and can cause redness, excessive tearing, eye irritation, eyelid crusting, mucous discharge, cornea abrasions, and possibly impaired vision.
Essential blepharospasm is a debilitating disorder of progressive involuntary spasms of the eyelid muscles. Other muscles of the face and neck may also be involved. Essential blepharospasm typically begins when the patient notices an increase in blinking or squinting with a progression towards repetitive forceful closure and difficulty in opening the eyelids.
Growths, lesions and tumors that commonly occur around the eyes are particularly troubling for patients, as well as for doctors not trained to handle the complexities associated with the eye and eyelids. A 70 yr old loved one saw Dr. Selem a couple of years ago, 2018-2019 and she did not have a good impression. He came in huffing and puffing with a heavy step. She thought to herself he’s just having a bad day, although this negative attitude to continue when he evaluated her. Almost, as if he had no time for her. She gave him the benefit of the doubt.

I recently had a procedure done by Dr. Selem and I’m very pleased with the results. I had researched pictures of what it would look like during recovery but I’m happy to say my eye looked much much better with a very short down time and discomfort within expected levels. His staff in the room where one gets prepared for surgery is the nicest a patient can hope for. There were many nurses and all of them were attentive, courteous, cordial, and very efficient. I saw them treat everyone (even a couple of rather difficult patients) very kindly and respectfully. Highly recommended!!!

Dr. Selem did a fabulous job of removing my elderly mother's skin cancer which was unfortunately located on her upper eyelid. He was very patient and considerate when we decided to postpone surgery due to COVID last Fall. We had no trouble scheduling the surgery a few months later and I'm happy to say that not only has her growth been removed, aesthetically it looks wonderful! Not all eye surgeons were willing to take on her case, but Dr. Selem never hesitated. Strongly recommend this doctor!

I highly recommend Dr. Selem's office. He removed a very serious eye stye for me. The doctor himself is very experienced and nice. He patiently answered all my questions and provided me suggestions about caring the eyes. His staff are professional, efficient and polite. The clinic is quite and clean. It was during the pandemic and they seriously followed the social distancing rules. The copay is very affordable, too. It was a very pleased experience being treated there.

Very happy w my surgery, calling in was super convenient & they saw me surprisingly quick which i was thankful for. procedure was also quick and thorough (i went in for a chalazion removal) Dr. was super nice and thorough explaining the surgery! 10/10 recommend. before and after pics don’t really do justice but the stye is practically gone and my eye looks normal!

My right eye cataract had gotten so bad I was getting scared. I had to search for a eye care center that would accept my insurance. When I made the call the day that I found Dr Selem's Office and spoke to the staff I felt it was a pure miracle and all my worries were over. The staff at the office at my 1st appointment was amazingly nice courteous and professional, not to mention Dr Selem himself, I felt I knew him from somewhere even tho it was the 1st time we met. My surgery was scheduled and went extremely smooth, the staff was past amazing and made me feel comfortable and safe. It's been 2 months

I showed up an hour early to my appointment and to my surprise I was seen very quickly! I was in and out of the office in 30 minutes!! The Dr. is super nice and straightforward with you. He also seems to care about his patients and asked about my personal life, definitely not something many doctors try to do. I had a great experience and I’m sure you will too!
