Salem Food Market is one of the oldest restaurants established in the historic town of Dedham. Over the past 25 years there have been only 3 owners. The most recent owner is Freddie Zagami. Freddie acquired the market in the spring of 2010, and has been busy ever since.
Freddie has worked in the restaurant business for the past 15 years and it was a natural progression and a lifelong dream of Freddie's to transition from working for others to owning his own restaurant.Salem Food Market has a fantastic reputation to live up to and Freddie is aiming to maintain that reputation, with plans to make it a bigger and better success!

Was in HydePark and Dedham today after work and decided to drop by Salem Food Market , haven't been there in a while and as I work six days a week quite a distance from them it's hard to go,as often as I,d like to. Fred is celebrating his 11 th year in business and I just had to go congratulate him. I had fantastic sausage sub yummmm, Great job by Fred and crew and the very polite girl who took my orders , thanks again

I have been looking for a good sub market that actually listens to the wants in a sandwich from customers. We have ordered turkey sandwiches and we ask for extra turkey and we do get the extra we requested and it is delicious.
Have gone to 4 in the area with disappointment on each and now we found the right one. If you are the type that cares for a great sandwich and not just two slices of meat and just bread, this is your place. I wish I could have known about this a long long time ago. I highly recommended.

I work very close to Salem so I go over a lot for lunch. Usually I get sandwiches or paninis which are always great but today I picked up some eggplant parm with bow ties and it was hands down the best eggplant I have ever had. You get a large take out container full, so full I've been able to eat it over a couple days. I already knew Fred's good was good but this definitely took the cake for me today for my favorite. I definitely recommend Salem Food Market, there isn't a bad thing on the menu!

Amazing food catered for our Christmas dinner! Was ready for pickup on time, affordable, huge portions, and delicious! Easy to reheat for any party. The tomato sauce is so good, eggplant breaded and cooked to perfection and the Chicken Marsala was so flavorful! You can't go wrong with catering from Salem Food Market.

When I first moved to Dedham, I went on a hunt for the perfect sub shop. You know the one. The place that reminds you of that little family joint that your father took you to that had the ultimate Italian sub.
Well, I found it. Actually, I found it a few years ago, I just hadn't shared it with anyone yet.
Yup. This is the place! Great Italian Sub. And, although that is my go to, I have tried several others. Never disappointed. My boys love their meatball subs.
The steam table always has some interesting pastas going, too.
Highly recommend it.

Long story short:
-Sub-par food
-Rude owners/cooks that mistreat their employees
-cute place that I want to like but now never can
I watched the very polite girl working the register (Brittany?) write down my order perfectly and pass it to the kitchen (a few minutes after hearing them yell at her for giving them a comment and not writing it down on a slip).
Some ridiculously long amount of time for a sandwich and a small order of fries later, a cold sandwich is brought out with, like, a tiny cube of cheese added to it, no fries and none of the spicy sauce i asked for and watched the girl write

Had a last minute funeral and Fred saved us with catering. Ordered chicken, broccoli and pasta, pasta with sausage, macaroni salad, fingers sandwiches and salad. I received compliments as if I cooked and that's always a plus. Helped us out with a sad occasion and was super kind the whole time. The food was very good especially the sausage and pasta. I did not even get to try the sandwiches- they were gone. Thanks again for the awesome food and service.

I showed up at 5:30 (dinnertime) and was told that they are not making any food including sandwiches but if I wanted to come back in twenty minutes they should be ready to ....... as I looked over a table of four were eating chicken finger dinners. Seriously !!! I went to Brothers Roast Beef and got a great sandwich.

My job requires traveling around New England, so I've had lunch at a lot of different places in MA, RI, NH, etc. I've also tried every place around Dedham center. With that in mind, I'll say two things: (1) I look forward to coming back to Dedham; and (2) when I'm in Dedham, I always have lunch at Salem Food Market. Every time, without exception.
Warm, friendly people. Delicious, freshly prepared food. Great selection. Highly recommended!

I have been going to Salem food for lunch for years and its always top notch. Everything is prepared fresh and cooked to order by Freddie and his staff.
I wish yelp had to a six star option. I recently had a death in my family and had to have food set up at the Hall after the funeral.
To say that Freddie went above and beyond is an understatement. The funeral was held on Saint Patricks Day which for a restaurant is a busy day. Freddie made sure everything was set up and ready for when the guests started to arrive. No worries about anything on my end.

Excellent! High quality fresh ingredients make for a great sandwich shop and more. We were in for an early supper and went with veal & eggplant sandwiches and an order of fries. Real veal, not patties, and lightly breaded eggplant. Nice sauce, real Italian, not too sweet. The real bakery sub rolls made this my new reason to forget D'Angelos.
The fries are just wonderful. The oil had to be very clean, and they are normal French fry size. A small order will feed three normal folks.
The owner and staff were very nice making the limited street parking the only drawback. We found a spot
