Study up - Find out about license and insurance requirements for contractors in your state. And before you call a contractor, know the model of your current system and its maintenance history. Also, make note of any uncomfortable rooms. This will help potential contractors better understand your heating needs.
Most air conditioners have their capacity rated in BTUs, or British Thermal Units. A BTU is, generally, the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one pound of water one degree F. Specifically, a BTU is 1,055 joules, but the first definition is easier to understand in real-life terms. One "ton", in heating and cooling terms, is 12,000 BTUs.
Maintain your equipment to prevent future problems and unwanted costs. Keep your cooling and heating system at peak performance by having a contractor do annual pre-season check-ups. Contractors get busy once summer and winter come, so it's best to check the cooling system in the spring and the heating system in the fall.
The systems you now use or choose to have installed may qualify for energy efficiency savings. You may be able to take the credits if you made energy saving improvements to your home located in the United States in 2020. Homeowners may be able to claim federal tax credits equal to 10% of the installed cost for qualifying HVAC improvements, up to a maximum credit of $500.

My electric furnace only blows cold air, and I suspected that the heat element went out. I called Eagle and they sent the technician out the next day. Our technician was running late, and both the office and he called and texted me to let me know. The service and the communication were very efficient from begin to end.
Dominic was prompt, thorough, and courteous explaining in detail the issues. There was a dead chipmunk burned to death on the heat coil. Poor thing! Thanks Eagle Heating & Air

I contacted Eagle Mechanical in late August and provided detailed information about issues between my oil furnace and thermostat. Christie took the info and said she would return my call after verifying they could perform the work, which she did and put me on the schedule for September 23. I questioned how far out that was and she said that was the soonest the technician who is knowledgeable with oil furnaces was available. I patiently waited nearly a month only to receive an email on September 21 that they were canceling my appointment because they don't work on oil furnaces. I am a senior citizen
