Nikko at First Internet Bank was great and responsive throughout the whole process. There’s not anything I was guessing about through the whole process and communication was always quick. I've had FIB for 7-8 years. HIGHLY recommended. Excellent customer service. Accessible people. No one reading to you off some bureaucratic script when you call in. No automated bologna or bots if you email the bank with a concern. Everyone has always been very "human" (not hiding behind policies, not rushing you, treating you the way they'd like to be treated). You can't beat the free checking either. I wish I had switched the First Internet sooner.

This bank definitely has issues with their internal processes. Different reps give you different information on the same issue which causes the problem to linger for a long time before reaching the final solution.
Most banks will want to accommodate their customers, but this bank seems to not care much about going the extra mile for a customer to retain them.

Our business (The Christmas Stand LLC) had applied to have a business checking account with this company. Their internal team should do an audit of their processes, as we were not dealt with fairly and with integrity. As our company grows we wanted a bank partner that we felt would align with our incentives financially and with their business values. This company lacks integrity in every extent and I would never suggest others to do business with them. What a shame considering that we were going to keep the bulk of our business with them at one point.

Unbelievable. Attempted to open a business checking account and was denied based "in whole or in part" on the ChexSystem report. After pulling the report and seeing absolutely nothing derogatory, I attempted many times to contact someone who could explain to me why I was denied.
I run several businesses and have 800+ credit score so I felt it was denied on a technicality. After receiving the runaround on calls for days, I attempted to apply again. Same response. I love First IB!!! They are wonderful to customers, service is phenomenal and they are great when it comes to helping consumers with loans. I’ve been a customer for 10 years and I’ll never go anywhere else! The only feedback I’d have is implementing some sort of max monthly atm fee limit or similar. Without a branch bank anywhere close- the atm fees can get crazy. Small price to pay though!!!

I truly understand the negative reviews. I attempted to open a Business Account with First Internet Bank, at the advise of a current customer, only to be strangely denied. When I contacted Chex Systems (and pulled my online report as Chex Systems requested), as well as checked my credit score, I found there was absolutely nothing negatively reported (absolutely clean), and nothing wrong with my credit score.

This bank is actively taking advantage of commercial customers during the pandemic. Even when they stand to make nearly $500,000 in interest, they encourage deferment in order to entrap customers in a backhanded scheme to earn additional interest. After filing a complaint, I was told to send a check for both deferred payments or advised to refinance with another bank. They would graciously lower the prepayment penalty from $60,000 to $30,000. Worst customer service I’ve ever encountered.

After getting the run around from a couple of different lenders First Internet Bank came recommended by a personal friend. I contacted them online and got a quick response from Joey Newton. WARNING to all Ohio (and maybe other states too?) residents - be very wary of the manner in which this bank records your mortgage. They will use a OPEN END MORTGAGE instrument, even if you have a 100% fixed term, CLOSED-END loan. This will most likely prevent you from getting a HELOC or 2nd mortgage on your property if you ever wish to do so (unless you go through them of course for the new loan...convenient, right?). I cannot find 1 single bank that also does it this way in OH. FIB first told me that their documents "never include that clause" and that it was probably "stamped

Loved this bank way back when the first opened, when they defined the cutting edge for online access, bill pay and great service.
A few years ago the whole operation started to slide, as other banks refined online competition, I suppose. Every transfer / transaction became a chore requiring phone calls, and lots of original signed paper documents mailed or faxed (!)
The latest news is that they do not want your retirement accounts so get your $$ out of their bank asap! The bank's mechanical response, "The decision to no longer offer IRA products

If I could give zero stars I would. I borrowed money to purchase a motor home 18 months ago and First Internet Bank demanded that I send them the original title on the vehicle so they could "hold" it as they claim the loan was processed in a "title hold" state. I objected heavily to this request as my state of residence, Oklahoma, is not a title hold state. I could not get them to understand that all they had to do is put a lien on my title and allow me to hold it for safe keeping. I lobbied them to choose this route because i did not trust them to keep track of the title. Two

TURN AND RUN. This place is awful. I opened up a checking account and it's been 3 weeks and still no debit card. They will not let me withdraw my money. They will not give me my account number to transfer the funds. They will not help me in any way what so ever. Their advice is to just wait it out. Go to a normal bank with people who aren't WORTHLESS HUMAN BEINGS!!!!!!!

Not only did they overnight me a new debit card, but actual HUMAN PEOPLE reached out to me to help remedy the situation and proffer their vehement apologies. I was stunned by this level of commitment to what amounts to a small-time depositor. Now that my ew card has arrived, 1IB seems to be the optimal bank for me. Terrible experience!
The loan officer (Max) recommended a 10 year arm loan for my home purchase, claimed that he locked the rate at 3.625%, and then three weeks later, told me that the loan is NOT applicable to the home purchase! Instead of the 10-year ARM, he tried to talk me into applying for a different 5-year ARM loan with FIB.
When I asked him why he didn't inform me during the first three weeks that the 10-year ARM loan he recommended may not be applicable to the home purchase. He said "do you think it would be a good sales strategy?" He was right - I would never have

This institution apparently offers great rates if you can ever get an account opened. Filled out their detailed account application to open two corporate accounts. Sent in all of the other paperwork asked for in their application, copies of Certified Articles of Incorporation, Corporate Resolution, Certificate of Good and Active Corporate Status, and copies of the last three months corporate general account back statements. Then the fun began.

After shopping around for several mortgage brokers for our refinance, I chose First Internet Bank because they were the most responsive on all of my inquiries. I had a very short deadline and our loan officer Jeri Homes worked tirelessly to get our loan closed in less than 25 days. After filling out the website inquiry I got a phone call very promptly and began working with Chris Lawson. He took the time to explain the process and give me some numbers to compare against the other lenders I was shopping. I took a leap of faith and decided to move forward.
Chris began the process of collecting information for our mortgage and made the process very efficient. He provided me guidance and answered all of my questions throughout the process.
