What started out as a small group of friends that happen to be "movers and shakers" of Kentucky and from the magazine world (G&G, Southern Living, Sophisticated Living, etc.) coming down to see the beauty of the place before it opened, quickly turned into a full on event for 240 friends! What you did in a a few weeks that would have taken most people months of planning, was short of a miracle.

Order was wrong, sandwhich and side. Asked to add onion they said they don't have onion yet the tiny side of pasta salad that I paid for has onion in it... someone asked to speak with the owner the owner replied do you have an appointment. Very rude and unprofessional food not worth it nor the price.

We were in the neighborhood and looking for something different to eat and passed by this place. I am so glad that we stopped in! I had the Liberty which is a delicious country ham sandwich and my wife had the chicken salad croissant. Probably the best chicken salad we have had in a long time. The country ham sandwich did not disappoint either! We both had the home made potato chips. We will definitely go out of our way to eat here again and again!

Yesterday, my employer was under a every two year audit from an accreditation agency and they decided to cater sandwich plates, two types of salad, and a cookie/brownie plate.
I have to state that the salads had a unique taste to ones that I have ever tried in the past. I almost thought this "restaurant" was trying to throw a new kind of nationality of food for a certain demographic. Nope. It was pretty much Italian and North American type food. Even if the word "Orzo" is North American apparently.
The cold cut sandwiches were amazing with pimento cheese and the cheesecake

So, like everyone else.....we are SO OVERRR COVID 19. The last thing we wanted to do was whip up a thanksgiving meal with no one over to enjoy. So my husband and I decided to order out (for the first time since we've been married). After thorough research and some calling a good handful of restaurants, we decided to go with Selma's Catering. I spoke to Selma herself and she graciously fit us in given her already packed thanksgiving client list. Her menu was colorful, plentiful and guaranteed leftovers (which was accurate). The order for two was reasonably priced given all that you got

Selma's provided lunch at a KEEP event yesterday. It was much improved from the last box lunch I had. A good chicken salad sandwich with L&T on wheat bread and a side of potato salad. I liked the addition of grapes to the chicken salad, but it could have had a bit less mayonnaise as I struggled to keep the sandwich together. I passed on the cookie.

WOW!! The cashier was super polite and honest when I asked about the clam chowder. I asked if it was good and he said he was allergic to shellfish so he hadn't tried it. I really appreciate that honesty. I ordered it and yes it was warm and filling. The roast beef sandwich and all of our food was so tasty !!! My wife and I came here for my birthday lunch and was very impressed. I highly recommend Liberty cafe. Great warm food and super polite staff in a comfortable setting.
Thank you and happy birthday to me !!

A lovely lunch place tucked in the corner at Liberty Road and Henry Clay Blvd. Sandwiches, soups, and salads. Ours were absolutely delicious. I am seriously regretting that I did not have one of the cupcakes or a slice of cake. So very tempting. It was comfortably patronized but not overly crowded and food was very quick to come to the table. Highly recommended. The owner is very civic-minded and provides a percentage of their profit each month to a different nonprofit organization. A true gem and gift!

Selma's food is as down home as it gets. But then again anyone can make a tasty meal that rivals their grandmother. Selma adds something intangible to her service - great conversation, excellent company, and a passion for taking what the customer wants, adding a twist, and improving what you thought your grandmother could never recreate.
