Based in Winchester, KY, Thompson Catering began as Thompson's IGA Food Mart, serving grocery shoppers throughout the state nearly 70 years ago. The last grocery store was sold in 2000 with primary focus shifting towards catering, event planning and party equipment rental. Our current line-up of catering and event professionals have a combined work experience of over 150 years in the hospitality business.

Our catering menus reflect our varying culinary expertise, bringing together family recipes and regional favorites. We can help you design a menu that's inclusive and fits the needs of all your guests. From exquisite to economical, dressed up or dressed down, we don't compromise on quality or choice.
Inflatables are eye catching, bright, colorful and add tons of personality to your event. With 30+ inflatable slides, bounces and obstacle courses we have one of the largest selections in Central Kentucky. Pick up one of our inflatable bounces from our warehouse and keep it all weekend for $150. If your budget is more flexible have us bring out our 27 foot Big Blue Wildcat slide to your corporate or private function.
In addition to food and inflatables, we have a large array of event equipment that can provide shelter, seating and amenities for your guests.
Our rental equipment includes tents of all sizes, tables, chairs, linens, punch fountains, coolers, chafing dishes, freezers, fans, heaters, trackless choo-choo train, snow cone machines, cotton candy machines, popcorn machines, pipe & draping, dance floors, podiums with built-in P.A., carnival games, putt putt, rock climbing wall and more.

Our concessions are ballpark quality but for less than half of the cost. Snow Cones, Cotton Candy, Popcorn, Nachos, Funnel Cakes and more.

Thompson’s catered my wedding in May and provided the tent, tables, chairs, and dance floor. I highly recommend Mike and his team! He was so easy to communicate with in the weeks leading up to the wedding. The… staff that served at the wedding was professional and pleasant, and the food was delicious! We got so many compliments from our guests on the food. Thank you so much for helping us throw a fantastic wedding!

Due to covid, my wife and I had to find a caterer about 5 weeks before our wedding. Thompson was incredibly helpful. He provided a tasting, met every request, made great suggestions. The venue had specific requirements to be an approved venue and Thompson attended an orientation so that they can be approved. The day of the wedding, his staff was incredibly helpful, professional. We didn't have a wedding planner, so the captain really was a lifesaver in keeping everything organized. The bartender was great, they helped us put away our items. I've been an annual customer since 2017 and I can't say enough good things about this company. Year after year, they continue to provide great products, great pricing and great service. They have always been accommodating and willing to help in any way. I've had to make changes to parties due to inclement weather and unforeseen circumstances. Most recently, I had to cancel a birthday party after my son woke up sick on the morning of the party. The rentals had already been delivered. Thompson’s Catering is family owned and operated, and they treated us just like that-family. Mike made the reception-planning for my daughter’s wedding the easiest and most comfortable thing we did. Thompson’s was full of ideas, without any pressure; accommodating because of unpredictable weather concerns and the pandemic; friendly, courteous, professional, affordable, and meticulous in every detail. We have been ordering from Thompson’s for almost three months. The meats are amazing—beef tenderloin, strip steaks, boneless pork chops, hamburgers, ground beef and chicken breasts. We really like the charcoal from there, we’ve gone through four bags, it gives the meats the best wood-fire test. The quality and price is unbelievable, so much better than the average grocery stores. Thank you for offering such incredible meats and services to the community!

We have loved everything we have received from Thompson Catering! The steaks were perfectly trimmed and busting with flavor. The chicken and dumplings were better than Nana’s! And that’s saying a lot! Mike is super attentive and quick with all responses. I highly recommend!!

We have rented from Thompson and had the greatest experience! They were very accommodating and quick to reply. We have also had food catered at a rehearsal dinner and it was not only delicious but very organized. I would recommend using them for any services you need but can highly recommend wedding rentals and catering!
