Services
Before moving to the East Bay, I spent six years in orthodontic private practice in the greater Boston area where I treated over 3,200 patients. Since then I have practiced in San Francisco and also spend some time bringing high quality orthodontics to an underserved population. Orthodontics is an ever changing field, and in order to provide the best care to my patients I am committed to being a lifelong student.
Dr. Hocking practiced for several years on the east coast, and decided to open a new practice in San Ramon, CA. She's a busy professional as well as a mom, so she understands how hectic things can get! That is specifically why Dr. Hocking chose to open an office IN The Shops at Bishop Ranch. Her goal was to create an office where patients did not have to compromise anything.
Dr. Hocking received her Orthodontic Specialty and Master of Medical Science from Harvard University. Prior to this, she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Columbia University, and graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a double major in Biology and Psychology with Honors. Before moving to the East Bay, Dr. Hocking spent many years in Orthodontic private practice in the greater Boston area.
We appreciate your interest in Hocking Orthodontics, and cannot wait to welcome you to our office! Unlike with medical treatment, you do not need a referral to see an orthodontist. All it takes is a phone call or an email to schedule your consultation. The sooner you start, the sooner we can say we Made You Smile!
At your Initial Consultation you will be welcomed, shown the office, and have a personal exam with the doctor, after which she will discuss the treatment options that will best fit your needs. Depending upon your age or needs, we will take some pictures and a Panoramic x-ray at no cost to you. If you are ready for treatment, we can often take your remaining records that day, and be able to get your treatment started.

Dr. Hocking is one of the most genuine professionals I've encountered. I stopped by the office nearly 2 years ago to get a second opinion on the option for braces (as an adult). She was honest and said that braces would only be worth it if I got the jaw surgery. If I didn't get the surgery, though the teeth would seem straight, it would just mess up my bite. She also said that a 3d xray was not needed (as other offices had informed me would be needed). She also gave information on Kaiser coverage and advised to check with them to make sure I wanted to move forward with the jaw surgery

Our older daughter just had her braces removed. We have had an amazing experience at Hocking Orthodontics. Extremely professional and friendly environment from the moment you walk in the door makes you feel welcome, at ease and confident with whatever treatment you will be getting. Dr Hocking is awesome!! My daughter was super scared of going to the orthodontist but Dr Hocking was kind and patient with her. She explained everything that would happen in a kid friendly way and made my daughter feel good about what was happening. Plus I love that her office is small and you feel special from her staff and Dr Hocking. My daughter loved going to the orthodontist!

Dr. Hocking is very professional, knowledgeable and very personable. She explains everything that she is doing as she’s doing it. She has a way of putting you at ease. She’s very patient and strives to get the right outcome. I saw Dr. Hocking for myself, as well as for my daughter. Both of us have been very pleased and have nothing bad to say. Her office assistant is very helpful and kind, a pleasure to interact with. Overall, Dr. Hocking‘s practice is top notch!

Our experience with Dr. Hocking is absolutely wonderful. My two children who just completed phase I treatment and the other is still under phase II treatment, they both like Dr. Hocking and looking forward for the next appointment. My dentist had referred me to Dr. Hocking to get my braces done last year. I was very impressed with Dr. Hocking when I had my first appointment with her given her educational background and experience. I actually haven't looked at other orthodontists, i just went with my gut feeling and I'm typically the person that likes to shop around before choosing a service provider. Dr. Hocking is absolutely amazing!! First off, she is extremely knowledgable and shares (and explains) everything in a candid manner. She is so warm and really down to earth. Kids actually fun when they're in treatment!! She has excellent bedside manner. An extra note I have to add: During the current COVID-time - she's been taking extra extra precautions and has a super stringent routine in place before and after each patient! Highly recommend this phenomenal orthodontist!

Love, love, love this place. The office is always very clean, and the admin is friendly and helpful.
Dr. Hocking is amazing! She is very knowledgeable, and has great bedside manners (great rapport with her patients). My son always looks forward to his visits. We're so thankful we found Dr. Hocking because we've had awful experiences with our other children's Orthodontists.

Dr Hocking is the best!!! My daughter was super nervous our first visit and by the time we left my daughter had big smiles and all her fears were gone all thanks to Dr Hocking's great ability to connect with young kids and explain things in a way that she could easily understand.

There are a lot of choices in this area for orthodontists. I feel lucky to have found Dr. Hocking. Beside the fact that she went to a top school (Harvard) and is highly skilled, she is so sweet and calming. Let's face it, no one really looks forward to getting work done on their teeth. As an adult, her visits are pleasant and I can see how kids would respond well to her. I appreciate that she explains every step so that I am well informed. I am going through my Invisalign treatment with Dr. Hocking... I could not be happier! Dr Hocking is one of the top orthodontist I've seen. She is kind, detail-oriented, and will always make sure to spend one-on-one time with her patients. She always wants only the best for her patients and will not settle for anything but best results.

I needed a permanent retainer and my friend recommended this place. I am very happy she did!! The staff and Dr. Hocking are super friendly and knowledgable. I came in and talked to Dr. Hocking about my idea and the history of the things I've had done in my teeth and she gave me options and her input on things. I was so pleased she did! I decided to get my permanent retainer that day! She did an amazing job!! She took the time to make sure my retainer fit my teeth perfectly. I was a rare case where my retainer needed to be longer. I cannot speak highly enough about Dr. Hocking! She is an incredibly talented orthodontist who gave me my beautifully straight teeth. She is also the ultimate professional- from our initial consultation to each visit to the day my braces came off, she was always super caring, patient in answering all my questions, and meticulous in ensuring the best results. On top of it all, she is just an all-around down-to-earth and great person. MA lost a wonderful orthodontist, but I will be telling anyone I know in the Bay area to go to Dr. Hocking!

Dr. Hocking is a perfectionist and the results she delivers are amazing. Not only is she an expert in her field, but she's also kind and gentle, which makes the whole process of braces (or Invisalign) actually fun and pleasant! She's patient, thorough, gentle, and wonderful with all her patients. When she was here in Massachusetts, everyone wanted to go to her for their braces. Our loss is California's gain!
