Construction & Demolition
The Construction & Demolition Recycling Association (CDRA) promotes and defends the environmentally sound recycling of the more than 583 million tons of recoverable construction and demolition (C&D) materials that are generated in the United States annually. These materials include aggregates such as concrete, asphalt, asphalt shingles, gypsum wallboard, wood and metals.

If you are involved in construction and demolition recycling in North America as a recycler, vendor, consultant, government agency, or just have an interest in our industry, we invite you to become a member of the CDRA. By joining as a member, serving on a committee, or attending our conference, we can provide you with valuable information, resources, and networking opportunities.

Concrete recycling is becoming an increasingly popular way to utilize aggregate left behind when structures or roadways are demolished. In the past, this rubble was disposed of in landfills, but with more attention being paid to environmental concerns, concrete recycling allows reuse of the rubble while also keeping construction costs down.
To give you a basic overview of gypsum drywall recycling, we've compiled answers to commonly-asked questions about the process. A description of gypsum drywall must first begin with a discussion of gypsum itself. Gypsum, a naturally occuring mineral, is composed of calcium sulfate (CaSO4) and water (H2O).
My company does not recycle material; we design, build and construct C&D landfills and facilities, and assist collection companies and processors with permitting. I have an environmental studies degree focused on teaching and decided to shift gears into the environmental world.

I was trying to find an environmental job and it was back in the days when super fund sites were big, and most jobs posted in the newspaper (before internet!) were environmental engineering positions.I answered an ad "customer service representative needed for garbage company", and I got the job! I spent five years at Recology (Norcal Waste Systems back in the day).
