Fairview Commons Nursing & Rehabilitation Center has been part of the Great Barrington community for more than 40 years, providing short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care in The Berkshires. Nestled in a hill in a quiet residential setting, all of our rooms overlook blooming greenery with either the surrounding woods or our well-maintained patios.

We understand that the need for post-acute care is often unplanned, and we offer admissions seven days a week for the smoothest possible transition between care settings. A personal care assessment determines the appropriate level of care and establishes preliminary goals.
Our dedicated core team includes nurses and nursing assistants, full time nurse practitioner, rehabilitation therapists, activities staff, a dietitian, consulting physicians, and our Medical Director.These specialists, along with our entire staff, work together to provide a place that feels like home.

Our on-site rehabilitation team includes physical, occupational, and speech therapists, and specially trained therapy assistants, all dedicated to helping you regain strength, mobility, and independence, and achieve the best possible outcome. Our experienced team of rehab professionals is here seven days a week, as ordered by your physician, with all of the equipment needed for effective rehabilitation.
We start planning for discharge upon admission, creating personalized treatment plans that implement physician's orders to meet personal goals. Our 24-hour skilled nursing teams provide the care and attention needed to maximize recovery, and a family meeting is held within 72 hours of admission to review expectations and address any concerns.

My wife was a patient after intestinal surgery. She developed intense abdominal pain . Overnight nurse insisted nothing was wrong. Over adamant objections from the nurse we personally called 911 for an ambulance to hospital in Pittsfield, where they discovered a life-threatening intestinal block. Stay away

I'd really love to give 4.5 stars: pretty good, not perfect. A friend of mine was in for a three week stay...I couldn't see him because of Covid, but dealt with members of the staff by phone in helping with his care and discharge. They were always friendly, though I felt they were stressed and understaffed at times. A special thanks goes out to the social worker, Hareklea (sp?): she was particularly helpful and I feel went beyond the call of duty in my friend's care and discharge.

I have been at the Commons 5x in the past year and a half, three times for fractures and twice for surgeries. I can't say enough positive things about my experience in the rehab wing.The staff has been welcoming, kind, efficient and professional at all times. I enjoy the meals here and keep gaining weight with each visit! Tne P/T therapists are great and with their encouragement I have made rapid progress.My dog was even allowed to visit often.My room was large, private and clean. All in all, it's been a very relaxing visit, somewhere between a spa and being with my family. I'm actually in no rush

So far my experiences have been extremely poor. I found prejudiced in I'm formed management. Meetings were held in closed rooms, 4 and five women against myself alone. These women claim I have not kept my husband safe and he should live there. He dislikes the home itself ( loves the adult day center in contrast) and wants to leave. I have dealt with stubbornness and condescension from the director down to the social workers. I've been patronized and mistreated at all times and levels.
I have given them one star and the home did not rate even that. Again, the adult day center was lovely to deal
