I simply cannot recommend granite bay jiu-jitsu enough as I have entrusted my whole family to the very capable hands of Coach Ryan.and you would not be wrong in doing so too. Ryan and the granite bay jiu-jitsu family have been life-changing for both my 13-year-old daughter and for me (45 year-old).

Granite Bay Jiu-Jitsu Academy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (83-3635273) that promotes martial arts training and yoga practice for health, fitness, and social reasons. We advocate for the mainstream use of martial arts training and yoga practice via Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and yoga classes. Families with incomes less than $47,520/year (varies based on household size) are eligible for scholarship assistance for kids under eighteen.
The world of martial arts is bigger than most would expect and has several different crafts within it. Jiu-jitsu, a style of martial arts that has been growing in popularity over the years, is one of the arts that more people are interested in because of how approachable it is. If ever there was such a thing as a non-violent fighting technique, Jiu-Jitsu is without a doubt it, but there is more than meets the eye with this particular practice.

This little Tucktaway Jiu-Jitsu studio is truly a hidden Gem!! Our 11yr old daughter is an only child, unbelievably kind with a huge heart, BUT also very shy! Doesn't like to ask questions even when she's lost as to what's happening. My husband & I decided to find some kind of martial arts class to put her in. Hoping it would not only teach her to defend herself if God forbid it should ever be needed. But to also hopefully help her to bust out of her shyness, and become way more confident in herself in every way. Neither one of us know much about any kind of martial arts

Ryan Rich is a very friendly and welcoming person. The gym, Granite Bay Jiu Jitsu, has a very warm and inviting atmosphere because that is the way Ryan is as a person. He has created a strong community of hard workers and a fun environment for all of his students. If you are in the area (including you ladies out there!) I strongly recommend coming by!

This is a great place to learn Jiu Jitsu & self defense. The staff & head instructor strive to make it a family atmosphere without watering down the art of Jiu Jitsu & true Martial Arts. The instructors there are committed to helping you reach your goals & will go above & beyond to see you do it. They only ask that you give your best on the mat. Stopped in about a month ago right after work for their 6:30pm class. Their classes are great for all levels. The instructor demonstrated each technique with high detail, we then drilled the move over and again as the instructor walked around to make sure each group was performing the technique accurately. We then proceeded to live training and all of the students are very technical and respectful to their training partners. Highly recommend!

I have been to this Jiu Jitsu Academy it is very nice clean it has all the state-of-the-art mats Ryan is an awesome instructor very nice great with the kids the kids class is pretty awesome I think everyone should check it out anyone interested anyone looking to start jujitsu or already presently doing jujitsu would find this place an awesome place to make home I hope you have such a good experience as I did enjoy

A fantastic place to improve your grappling game. Ryan gives such great insight; he is a tactitian. Personally, my first class with him added a submission and transition that I hadn't seen before and continues to be effective so many years later. Plus he's great with kids - he helped give my son insight that drove him toward gold at a large tournament.
GBJJ also brings a positive environment to learn in. The greater Sacramento area has BJJ schools that offer different mentalities, and thankfully Ryan and GBJJ are among so many other schools that have fostered a truly inviting/inspiring
