So I purchased a $20 2 week trial with uniforms for my 2 children 6 and 9. At orientation I felt like I was at a car dealer with all the pressure. So we signed the kids up for the "family" package for all 4 of us and the adults would switch off on who did class and who watched our 2 year old. Well about a month later my schedule changed so I could no longer make it to class and my husband would have to watch the baby every time, we tried to see of the 2 of us could be removed and it just be the 2 kids... this is where we were told of the fee only covers the 2 kids and the adults are

If I could give this place negative stars I would. I went to this location for about a month and due to personal circumstances and a move to a new location (made it over 30 minutes to go to class) I needed to cancel my membership. It's almost 6 months later and after discussing a refund, the owners is yet to call back and/or issue the refund. At first it was phone tag and now it seems I'm never going to be getting that phone call so I figured I would take the hint and warn future martial artists that want to give Taekwondo a try. DO NOT COME

Our family purchased a Groupon for our 6 year old son to try martial arts. However after the experience in trying to schedule the orientation (it took two weeks and several unreturned phone calls to schedule an orientation) the beginnings and hints of a hard sell process as well as reading critical reviews online (hard sell process), we have determined that this organization is not the best fit for us. I have requested a refund from Groupon and we will look for a better fit for our families martial arts needs. We ultimately just wanted an affordable opportunity for our son to try martial arts

The teachers are all wonderfully patient with the children. They push each student to go to their ability and improve. They really encourage teamwork and being comfortable meeting others respectfully. It's even great for adults, I'm getting a lot out of these classes. Strongly recommended for families!

Below are a few reasons why I gave such a low rating.
I bought a Groupon without knowing what type of Martial Arts it was for, just to try it out. The website is outdated with very little information, not even the school name. The phone number listed on the website was no longer in service.
We learned it was Taekwondo when we walked to the door for orientation. We learned that you earn your belts by attendance rather than by any measure of achievement. As long as you attend regularly, you will continue to be promoted toward a black belt regardless of how well you learn or perform.

This place is amazing, the instructors show a great amount of care and attention to the students! I took lessons with my daughter here and would recommend this place to anyone that wants to do a sport with your child, it's really a great bonding time, and a fun place to meet people as there's dedicated time each class for the kids to interact with neighbors (meet your neighbor time) I thought that was too cool! What a great place!

Folsom Academy is absolutely amazing! They certainly practice what they preach in that the instructors are very high energy and they get the same from the kids and adults in each class. The "family" type atmosphere is extremely inclusive and everyone is encouraged to participate.

Work hard and play hard sums it up for our family! The three of us enjoy training at the same time and with all of the other families. The level of instruction is second to non and they are consistently working on improving all of our skills and abilities. It is great to see our TaeKwonDo family grow and improve!
