Heather Earnhardt and Zac Young believe the rich history of the Tokeland Hotel and Restaurant offers an intimate and cozy environment where guests feel connected to the magic of an earlier, gracious period and lifestyle. Southern hospitality, exceptional food and comfortable lodgings are just part of the late 19th century ambiance.
Along with their five children, they now call Tokeland their full-time home. They keep a large flock of chickens and guinea hens, a big yellow lab named Gus, Biscuit the rabbit, three pet pigs named Fanny, Fern and Francis, pygmy goats Percy, Cookie & Marjie, two parakeets Sundance & Frida, and a big wild garden.

We had dinner at the Wandering Goose at the Tokeland Hotel for our 31st wedding anniversary and were so impressed. We have lived in the area for over 20 years and this is quite possibly the best meal we have ever had in out Pacific County. The winter salad was a taste and texture experience like no other; the combination of the warm sweet grilled squash and pears with the crunchy bitter greens and tart pomegranate and light tangy dressing. My husband started his dinner with the clam chowder; he described it as the, quite possibly the best he has ever had, maybe even better than his own. That is

This place hits a home run on every front; warm and welcoming environment, beautiful spaces, friendly staff, and - the whole reason for our trip out here - the food. Come with an appetite (huge portions) and prepare to be wowed. It’s everything I’ve been missing since they closed on Capitol Hill and then some (since Wandering Goose now serves dinner every night and have added some amazing seafood). Somehow they make each ingredient sing. Everything they offer is like a mash up of good home cooking meets farm-to-table fresh meets an incredibly talented chef. We enjoyed breakfasts of smoked salmon

The restaurant here is AMAZING! I had the best biscuits and gravy and can’t wait to go back again to try something else. Everything on the menu looked great, and they had plenty of wine and beer options as well. The fresh baked cookies were delicious, and I love the atmosphere here. Super cute and cozy, I’d love to stay at the hotel sometime and learn more about the history of the place. Would recommend checking it out if you’re in the area!

What a beautiful place Rich in history this hotel is , this is a total time machine to a better time . Any time I return to this area this is where I’d stay & support this historical American dream . Also seem like a very beautiful place to get married what a story book event it would be !

When we walked in the front door of the Tokeland Hotel we felt like we were home. We spent two lovely nights at the hotel, eating all our meals in the dining room, walking the grounds with Gus the bus dog (we love him!) and we left with full stomachs and happy spirits. The staff treated us like family, every item we ordered was to-die-for (omg the Sunday night pot roast and the cookie and the fried chicken and allllll the sides---picking a favorite is impossible). This place is truly special. It's a feast for the eyes, it has this ridiculously welcoming atmosphere and warmth, and the people are

Eclectic hotel with lots of cool antique furniture. We stopped in for lunch while visiting the area. I guess I ordered wrong… I spent $24 on a piece of Texas toast topped with 1/4 cup of crab and melted cheese with a small side of dry, hard, seasoned potatoes. I left there hungry. Husband ordered the burger. It looked delicious and filling. Beautiful view of Willipah Harbor.

Food:
Not only is this the absolute best food in the area, it is one of my favorite restaurants in the entire state. The food is a masterful creation that uses very fresh and wholesome ingredients. You can tell if if can be homemade, it is. Not only do you have great food, but the dining room experience is a gold class experience all in its own. The historical and rustic charm with a nice view of the water is a prefect backdrop to complete your breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You don’t have to be staying at the hotel to dine in.
Breakfast tip: Order the egg breakfast scrambled with a little cheese

What a magical place to visit for a meal, or stay overnight. The service is top notch. The food is delicious. The drinks are exquisite and the desserts are to die for. It's not terribly far away from Olympia/Seattle area. It is far enough away from everything that you can really see the stars while sitting around the camp fire at night. The beach is close enough to ride a bike to and you can see the water from the hotel. I highly recommend visiting this hotel if you can.

I really loved it. I am southern originally myself, so I enjoyed the “southern chic” vibe and decor. The rooms were tiny, but that kept us out of the room. Shared bathrooms can be a bit scary, but they were fine. The servers and staff were so nice to my family and toddler. Loved the fire pit in the back lawn, and chatted with some nice people back there. Only critique is it seemed like they played the same songs over and over - going for a very specific mood, I guess. Did not see any ghosts 👻 Will return!

Really enjoyed my stay. A hidden gem off the beaten track. Pros: gorgeous location, one of a kind style, amazing service, FOOD! Also loved the Pygmy goats and dog friendliness and offbeat nature of the entire experience. Cons: shared bathrooms but it's not that big of a deal septic you remember to bring a robe.

WARNING DO NOT BOOK EVENTS HERE! We had wanted to host our wedding in Tokeland, and fell in love with this hotel as a possible location. We met with Heather (owner) and Nick to see the property and discuss options. We swiftly put down a $2500 Deposit to secure our date. We don't live in the area, so we were dependent on calls/emails for planning. We began to reach out to discuss food/accommodation details multiple times with no response. Because of the failure to respond, we had no choice but to finally change our venue with just over 6 months to go. We've requested a refund of our deposit

Cosy and historic and trails into the salt marsh outside.
I'd heard that the place was purchased by a cook. I would say this is not a destination for someone hoping to eat Keto or Mediterranean. But if the selection of carbs you'd like to see is covered by biscuits, coffee cake, hush puppies, Texas toast, English muffins or grits, yes also spaghetti - well, you are in the right place.
And you can support a labor of love, keeping any historic building functional has got to be a heavy lift.
I loved the fireplace and enjoyed hanging out in the lobby. I met a man who was showing others

The service here keeps steadily declining. Went to brunch today, arrived around 10:45 and didn't get our food until after 12. Our waitress walked away when one of our friends was mid-question, there were things on the menu that they no longer serve and it took so long just to get coffee. The food was ok. The biscuits were good but the potatoes were so greasy and the shrimp and grits were swimming in oil. I've been here at least 8 times in the past year but I'm not sure it's worth going back anymore.

My wife and I decided to take a trip here in celebration of our 15th anniversary. Plus, we're big fans of all things historic and supposedly haunted.
The building itself is wonderful. Several rooms downstairs filled with antiques, plus sitting areas, including couches by a nice, cozy fireplace. Upstairs was a hallway full of small hotel rooms, and littered throughout Are community bathrooms.
The food at the restaurant was good - not spectacular, but decent. The staff were nice, the owners hospitable, except there was one lady who struck me as a little... odd. After we had checked in at

I read about the new owners, Heather Earnhardt and her husband Zac Young in the current AAA Magazine. An easy road trip from Tacoma and the restaurant is so worth it. We did not stay the night in the hotel but we were free to explore the ground floor rooms which are full of antiques. And then there is the restaurant, the best food and service you can imagine. The menu is varied and current with seasonal vegetables and seafood. This restaurant should be on everyone's bucket list.

We tried the restaurant since my parents are locals and we thought it would be fun to try their Southern food. We tried fried tomatoes (amazing!),fried pickles, crab dip and hush puppies for Starters.... everything was so good! The mains were fried chicken, clam and spaghetti, Po boy fried chicken sandwich and grits with shrimp! Everyone loves their dish!!
They had a blue grass band playing and the atmosphere was a lot of fun! The staff was super friendly and we enjoy talking with them. We will definitely go back!

Visited over Mothers Day weekend with my God daughter and had the best experience! First, the Mothers Day brunch was the best brunch I've ever had! Right up there with Ritz Carlton & Four Seasons brunches I've had in the past. Absolutely NOTHING missing on the buffet and everything was simply delicious! The staff was incredibly attentive and seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs which makes a big difference to a patron. The hotel it's self is so quaint with an interesting history dating back to 1885 when it was built as a home to house travelers. It seriously is a must visit

I really wanted to like this place. Easter Brunch was quite spendy, then coffee and tea were additional, no sweets. Buffet was basically scrambled eggs, asparagus, potatoes, grits, veggies, cold French toast and room temp hollandaise sauce. Homemade biscuits were good. Hotel and restaurant are quaint. Regular menu looks like good selection with fair prices, but we only had Easter brunch. Not a good deal for $170 for 4 people.

The new owners couldn't be nicer folks and they have the proper vision to ensure the old hotel is in good hands. Usually a hotel is just a place to sleep and then move along but not this one. When you come here you'll want to bring a book to read by the crackling fire and take some time to walk around and tour the historic building and grounds. You feel like you've stepped back into the Victorian era when you're here. Be sure to eat at the restaurant which is stellar.

While exploring the Washington Coast a few days ago we stumbled across The Tokeland Hotel. This place is amazing! It claims to be the oldest hotel in Washington (built in 1885), but it may also be most charming hotel in the state. The historic architecture and decor are warmly inviting and the young owners, Heather and Zac, couldn't be friendlier. It's a little off the beaten track but worth the drive. We look forward to going back.

Prior to 2018, I adored the Tokeland Inn. Always got a great meal in the past. We visited yesterday and were happy that the charming decor of the restaurant has been preserved. However, we were not pleased with the food. The cranberry pot roast was not pot roast at all but dry, salty shredded beef with a little cranberry sauce on top. They also made the potatoes with milk and butter, which I can't eat because I am allergic to cow' milk. I was not impressed with the very sweet baked beans that were substituted.
I hear that the new owner is into soul food. This might work in Seattle but

Me and my wife drove to Tokeland and stayed in this historic hotel. Apparently it's the oldest in Washington state. Beautiful decor with a fantastic restaurant. We had the best meal ever....the cranberry pot roast was to die for. The fried catfish was crispy, tender and fantastic, the best hush puppies I've ever had, collard greens were amazing. We came back later for dessert because we were stuffed, ordered the strawberry shortcake. Just perfection. Go check this place out!

I travel a lot for work; 100-150 days a year. So many times I have been back to hotel for days before remembering a previous visit. Not the Tokeland Hotel. It is a charming place with a unique character that will become a cherished long-term memory if you let it.
Full disclosure: I grew up in old houses and find their charm outweighs any challenges. The Tokeland Hotel is one of, if not the, oldest continually operated hotels in Washington State and it is from a different time; the bathrooms are shared, you will hear people talking in the halls, the floorboards creek and there are no closets in

I stayed at the Tokeland Hotel with my partner for her birthday. It was a delightful experience. I am a local, so I may be more than a bit biased.
The hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. As such, the shared bathrooms and small bedrooms are to be expected.
