Mary VanHoy, OD-Eyes For Wellness
We strive to serve the visual needs of our patients from infancy to the senior years such that they can perform at their highest level of efficiency and comfort for all acts of daily living. We endeavor to think "outside the box" utilizing a wide variety of treatments that are state of the art yet non-invasive and drug-free.

We coordinate services with other professionals to tailor a customized treatment plan for our patients' individual needs rather than simply treating diagnostic labels. I've been in vision therapy for approximately 8 months and my eyes are working together for the first time in a very long time. All of my symptoms have greatly subsided and I've even started driving on the highway again, with confidence.
Services
With over forty years of clinical experience in the field of developmental/behavioral Optometry, Dr. VanHoy holds the distinction of offering the widest array of treatment options that offer individualized specialty programs within a group setting. Eyes For Wellness is also the only doctor led vision therapy program in which the doctor is present for each therapy session.
Such standardized specialty tests as eye tracking, eye focusing, and eye teaming skills are administered to determine if the patient has adequate efficiency, accuracy, and stamina to maintain proficiency in their daily acts of living.

She also tests for signs of post trauma vision syndrome which may occur after an acquired brain injury such as an automobile accident, casualty from military service, or various neurological insults such as MS, cerebral palsy, or fibromyalgia.Dr. VanHoy is an optometrist with an emphasis on visual performance and rehabilitation.
Dr. VanHoy is the only developmental optometrist in Indiana who has achieved both her fellowship in the College of Optometrist in Vision Development as well as the College of Syntonic Optometry. She was also an optometric consultant to an autism center serving young adults with autistic spectrum disorder in Kuwait in 2013 - 2015.
As an optometrist in Indianapolis, Eyes For Wellness receives many orders for bifocal glasses. As you get older, your eyes begin to lose some of the clarity they once had. This is especially true for things like reading and other up-close work. If you have never worn glasses before, you may find yourself needing a pair of reading glasses, but what happens if you already wear glasses?
When you visit your optometrist in Indianapolis, IN, you may find yourself prescribed with bifocals. They are a common lens that treats common vision issues in many patients. A bifocal prescription should not be concerning, but it is natural to have questions. These are some of the most common questions we've received at Eyes For Wellness and their answers.

Dr. VanHoy is absolutely amazing! My daughter suffered with an undiagnosed vision problem for four years. We saw numerous specialists but received the same answers, essentially “we have no idea what is wrong, you’ve stumped us, hopefully she will just grow out of it, come back next year for another exam.” Needless to say this left us frustrated and feeling helpless as her vision problem made schoolwork harder and harder. My own ophthalmologist suggested I take my daughter to Dr. VanHoy, a behavioral ophthalmologist. Who even knew that was a thing?! I was encouraged right away by Dr. VanHoy’s

If you have a child with special needs you must go visit Dr. Van Hoy! She performs the most complete eye exam I have ever witnessed!
My youngest daughter, now 25, went to Dr. Van Hoy when she was not quite 2. My first thought when someone told me I should take her to have her eyes examined was How is that possible with a baby who wasn't talking! Silly me! It was amazing. Dr. Van Hoy will work tirelessly to make sure she has every calculation correct - no matter how long it takes.
Eyes for Wellness also provides a variety of therapies to help your eyes and brain are working together....

Dr. VanHoy is an amazing individual and eye doctor. My daughter (and I) were born with amblyopia and esotropia...Dr. VanHoy used her amazing skills in vision therapy to train my daughters brain to reconnect with her eyes. Her eyes never crossed, no surgery needed and she has vision in both eyes. I still go to Dr. VanHoy when I need help...I wasn’t so lucky and struggle to get contacts fitted correctly. If your children have vision issues, trust Dr. VanHoy to help you! She actively listens and is amazing with children.

Our daughter has benefited greatly from vision therapy and the sensory learning program at Eyes for Wellness. The results have been nothing short of amazing! Dr. VanHoy and staff are meticulous with their approach to each patient and their needs. The treatment has helped in so many ways - my daughter is processing information more efficiently through her vision and hearing, making her ability to learn much more fluid. We have been thrilled with the results and this has been a "game changer" for our daughter and her future! I highly recommend this practice!

I took my son to Eyes For Wellness four years ago to try to get help with his vision. You would never guess that poor handwriting can be linked to an eye tracking/eye teaming problem. Thanks to Dr. VanHoy and her staff, my son's vision improved. I am so grateful for the help. They know exactly what they are doing.
