Dr. Penn Moody was raised in South Charleston, WV. After graduation he attended IU in Bloomington where he graduated from the School of Optometry in 1975. He has had a varied career path. He founded Moody Eyes in 2005 with the goal of providing excellent eye care and affordable, quality eyeglasses and contact lenses.
Dr. Moody or Dr. Lambert carefully examine your vision and review your exam results with you. They make recommendations on how to best address your vision issues. After all your questions are answered, you are escorted to the frame area, where a stylist is waiting for you. With hundreds of independent frame brands to choose, you find several that fit your style and budget.
We have a large selection of frame styles, some we show on our website. Don't let the online eyeglass sellers mislead you - we have more styles than many of them. Stop by our office to actually try-on frames and get professional fitting advice. You will spend less than you think and get glasses you will love to wear.
When eyeglass stores or online retailers promote big discounts, their initial "list" price is typically inflated. You could pay more than you should at one of these "Sales". Even though warehouse stores might appear to be cheaper because they have lower priced frames, you will often pay more for lenses and lens options.
You will feel like a bird the first few days as you move your head around to find the right area of the lens;. Give yourself 7-10 days to adjust - please let us know if you're still having issues please after this;. After 20-years of explaining this to patients, it still took 3-days for me to adjust to my first pair.

I have been going to Dr. Moody since my mid teens. I have always felt comfortable and well taken care of during my visits to the office. However, my experience was a little different this year. I am writing this review honestly and politely. The first few minutes after arriving for my yearly exam I was confused to see that the big desk that's been in the lobby for years was simply gone. I found this office staff to be very accommodating. I had an incident with my left eye and wanted to get it checked out.
The optometrist was not immediately available, but Haley scheduled me for the first available slot later that same day. When I returned for my appointment Rachel and Casey were very efficient in getting me processed.

My family and I have been going to Moody Eyes since they open their first location. They have great Dr.’s and staff that are well trained. I have always enjoyed the selection of frames and quality of my Lenses. Last year when I told one of the associates I was looking for some new sun glasses they recommended a couple of different pairs of state frames from state optical. State frames are handmade in Chicago high quality and I couldn’t be happier with the sunglasses or Moody Eyes. Thank you.

Dr. Swift and the team at Moody Eyes are fantastic. The process to book or change an appointment time online is extremely convenient. Once there, the staff is friendly and in my experience they are on schedule for minimum wait time. Dr. Swift is extremely knowledgeable and happy to share information with you with the goal of delivering or… maintaining a comfortable solution for great eyesight and long term health. While I did not wait long before my exam, I felt Dr. Moody rushed through my appointment as fast as he could -- but not before mentioning that my current glasses were "overwhelming" for my face, making sure I understood that they were not attractive. THANKS FOR THAT, DOCTOR... and also, I'm not sure he could have been more rude to his staff members. And in front of patients, no less. No thank you, I'll find another eye doctor next time.

Today I attempted to call Moody Eyes to get pricing for contacts that I need in the next few days. After no one picked up and after no return call, I ordered for the first time from 1-800-Contacts. Expedited shipping, good price and my order was in stock. Hooray! Plus I didn't have to drive to Moody Eyes in Greenwood to pick up my order.

The staff is always friendly and welcoming. I had a same-day contact lens appointment during my 30-minute lunch break. Dr. Lambert and Richard explained every step of the appointment and made me feel at ease. I also felt like the doctor and Richard listened to any of my concerns. Myself & two kids have been going to Moody Eyes for about 15 years. We’ve never had an even mediocre experience. The providers & staff are always friendly & knowledgeable. Best Eye Doctor around! When I got married, I started to go where my husband went in Avon (where we moved to)...and I quickly came running back to Moody Eyes. Dr. Moody listens to you and your questions and concerns and is so thorough and patient with you. After moving to the South side, I had to pick out a new Optometrist, and I am so glad I chose to go to Dr. Moody. The exam was fast yet comprehensive, and Dr.Moody really cares about the health of your eyes. Great glasses selection, too, and a very helpful staff. Oh, and I just want to mention- you all know that puff of air eye pressure test everyone hates? Well they have new technology here so no more air in your eyeballs! Love it!

Dr. Moody has been our family eye doctor for years! Appointments are easy to make because they are open with convenient and flexible hours. The office is smartly decorated. Staff is super friendly and helpful!
I'm also always impressed that they seem to get in new machines/technology on a fairly regular basis, which is awesome because it makes things more comfortable for patients (no more big poof of air on my eye machine to test for glaucoma!) and I'm sure newer machines help with the accuracy of measurements for optimal vision.
