But, give us a call and ask.
Services
From routine eye exams to dry eye to surgical care, we aim to keep you covered and seeing well whatever your stage of life. Are you confused about cataracts? Surgical Management of cataracts is one of our core, prime missions. To see differently, you have to be educated on the problem and all of your options.
A cataract is a clouding of the natural lens of the eye. When the lens matures, it changes power. Most people over age 50 will notice changes to their vision. Many times, this could just be a new prescription or reading glasses. However, others develop changes to their vision that are not correctable in glasses or contacts.
Surgery is performed at Mission Health Outpatient Surgery Center located a 14 Medical Park Drive in Asheville off Sweeten Creek Road. Why do we use it? In short, this location provides great service with the most advanced equipment and widest selection of implants available in the region to choose for your lifestyle.
Don't want to call us for an appointment? No problem. You can e-mail us to set one up! However, if you have an urgent eye problem, please call the office to be properly screened. If you have a sight threatening issue or traumatic accident, please go to the nearest emergency department for definitive care.
To help us best serve your inquiry online, we recommend that you first describe the issue you're having. You may also email or call us to make an appointment. Our staff will return your call or answer your question as soon as possible. Please, for any eye or sight threatening emergency, go directly to the nearest Emergency Department for definitive care.

In the telling of my recent medical saga, it's obvious that the hero of the story is Dr Karo! After experiencing temporary vision loss, I was referred by a friend/nurse who is a patient. Dr Karo performed every possible vision test only to find the problem wasn't with my eyes. Rather than dismissing me, he pursued my having lab tests with my family doctor's office and wasn't satisfied until he was assured I would have them done. Those first tests came back negative, however, in consultation with my family doctor's office, she said Dr Karo had two more tests he wanted done - carotid artery ultrasounds

I'm a former patient of Dr. Cahan (now retired), and had my first visit today with Dr. Karo. I'm sure it will be the first of many!
Dr. Karo is clearly very knowledgeable, experienced and competent, in addition to being very personable and able to explain things very clearly. His staff - including Elisha, Renee and Samantha - are friendly, welcoming and attentive. The facilities are sparkling brand new and the equipment is state of the art. And, unlike some of the larger practices in town, you don't have the feeling of being "processed" as part of a large herd of patients.
Note: I made the mistake
