It takes more than a hot room and a list of postures to make your Bikram Yoga practice a safe, rewarding experience. Bikram Yoga is a specialized form of yoga, requiring appropriate training and knowledge to teach it effectively. Instructors are trained and certified to ensure that the yoga methods and philosophy are preserved and properly taught.
Hot Yoga Plus San Rafael teaches twenty-six posture exercises to systematically move fresh, oxygenated blood to one hundred percent of your body, to each organ and fiber, restoring all systems to healthy working order, just as Nature intended. Proper weight, muscle tone, vibrant good health, and a sense of well being will automatically follow.

This place is managed terribly: overheated room, unqualified instructors, bad customer service, unsafe pandemic policies. For your goodness, avoid this place for hot yoga!

I poured my heart and soul into this place and i am glad i have moved on. Changed many lives and as many as 250 students a day. Worked with over 280 teachers in 15 years. I spent a lot of time there and really knew the people and cared about them and their lives. I bought it in 2004 from the MCCahley family and it was a life changing experience, I will always miss the students. but i know a lot have moved on too, take care to everyone maybe it will be great again one day.

This place is a HIDDEN gem for sure but the inside is just right. It's clean, well organized and fosters a supportive environment, just as a place of restorative practice should.

I have taken most of my classes with Martin and could not ask for more in a guide and teacher. He provides firm but incredibly positive guidance to ensure that you are receiving the safest and most beneficial experience for the session. My Husband really likes Zach which is nice because we are both getting the experience we need.

We have both practiced in several studios all over the northern Bay Area and this

Great location, nice studio, plenty of showers in the men's room which is unheard of in the yoga studio world, usually places only have one shower for men and many showers for women. Martin is the instructor I enjoy. His clear direction and instruction makes it a breeze for me to improve form. Martin does a great job of mentioning our names during class for form corrections and praise which feels really good to have an instructor paying attention to the class instead of just going through the motions. Bikram yoga is a 90 minute class and Martin does a great job going through each pose in a

I started Bikram yoga 13 years ago when Arjay was managing Bikram Yoga San Rafael. I remember a true community spirit + classes were packed. Since yoga is a practice, I bounced when Jefferson turned the studio into a gym. Christian (one of the new managers) was kind enough to respond to an email and I am very encouraged that the studio is going back to its roots with a guaranteed, consistent schedule, variety of teachers, and 90-minute classes. It's going to take some time, but I'm already so happy that they've brought back the 6:30pm class for those of us who have to work! The company

BEST HOT YOGA STUDIO IN TOWN. This studio is actually hot. The owner, Jefferson is kind, organized, and hard working. He works tirelessly to provide people with the best yoga experience. Red Dragon and Some like it hot are not on the level of this place. If you want good Bikram yoga in the Bay Area, go here! Katherine and Jefferson are deeply experienced teachers. Enjoy!

I've been going to Frequency for a little while (primarily for Bikram, but some power here and there), and I do miss when it was just a yoga studio. There used to be way more yoga classes to choose from, but now the yoga has been cut back to make room for HIIT classes. I appreciate the importance of mixing up your workout routine, but I already do weights/cardio outside of the studio and would rather have more yoga options like I used to!

As a couple others have mentioned in the more recent reviews, there have been changes lately, and a lot of the old instructors are gone. I personally,

Kind of bummed when I canceled due to the fact I get deployed on wildland fires during summer months. I had requested the cancellation in June. Still getting charged August. Was hoping for a bit of public servant courtesy.
I liked the HIT class but the primary instructor left and the classes were not the same
Bummed out a bit

I received multiple emails that some one was using my account and class card 3 times. Basically some one stole 3 classes off my class card through their systems, its been 2 weeks since I've been trying to have some one resolve the issue and they don't get back to me. I am seriously disappointed with the customer service provided in resolving the situation. There is still no resolution.

I emailed them 2 weeks ago, then called and left a voicemail a week ago.. Then emailed them again. No reply. Then called again during my workday to get someone on the phone, they said they needed to check

Teachers are not monitoring the heat in the rooms properly and unfortunately for my first time, in practicing hot yoga for 2 decades, I had a heat stroke after one of their classes, be careful. Their new management and owner are not professional or kind. I honestly do not think they will stay in business at this rate.

Some great teachers I know have left there and I now have too. This past weekend I showed up to practice to find out they had a late minute cancel with no sub. Many of us went to Red Dragon instead. Bummer all the way around.

The haiku review:

Lovely but greedy
We take your dough and say "No!"
Save your pleas and leave

It's weird to write a one-star review about a yoga studio. I mean, how is that possible? Well...

You can have good teachers and a lovely facility, but when you have management that sucks, you can't have respect, or expect to stay in business. I tried to cancel my membership last year. I was told I couldn't do it over the phone, couldn't do it by mail, and couldn't do it by email. I had to go in personally and sign a form.

Seriously. When I couldn't go in

First time visiting this studio. They have a policy of "leaving a credit card on file" to cover incidental costs before one can attend class. When asked what incidental charges will go on my account (for example, is there a deposit, etc), the response was "because people grab bottles of water on their way out and forget to pay" so we require that you leave your card with us. This was the first thing I was told when I tried to sign in to my reserved class. As a new guest to this business, who also happens to be very private, this was very off-putting. I would also recommend that

One of the thing I cannot live without, is practicing Yoga. I am lucky and grateful to live by the Frequency yoga because their schedule gives me the chance to keep my Yoga practice as a priority. I love their studio, and the teachers, they will patiently guide you in the poses. I totally recommend it!

SO INCREDIBLY POORLY MANAGED, UNPROFESSIONAL, UN-YOGI-Like.
AND, I NEVER WRITE BAD REVIEWS. I am the one that writes great stuff or if things aren't exactly right, I say nothing at all. Everyone has an off day, but In this case, it is so difficult for me to understand how a business can be this poorly run and repeatedly "steals" funds out of my bank account with my express, repeated requests to please discontinue my monthly deduction. I just don't get it. They I would say they are "STEALING MONEY" and Im going to guess Im not the only person this has happened to

Love that they have a introductory period of 10 days for new students. Love this studio & how it offers a variety of different classes. I personally only do Bikram & opt for their 60 min class over the traditional 90 minutes most the time. It makes it much more enjoyable! Definitely will keep on coming to this studio

I love love LOVE this place! I've been coming to Frequency Yoga on/off for 8 years now and came back recently when I heard they were adding a cycling program. Coming back felt like "coming home". The teachers are fantastic and Jefferson's studios with heat flow and flooring in the yoga rooms are the best I've experienced here in Marin. I've been taking Power Yoga and Bikram, so the variety is great. They are adding a bunch of other classes and workshops which keeps us all learning and using a variety of muscle groups. The community is very loving and respectful. Pricing is very competitive, and

Great teachers who are very supportive. I like the all walks aspect here. It seems like everyone in class is there to help each other and enjoy the yoga rather than posing in their new clothes. All types are here and all feel welcome.

I’ve been a member of Frequency Yoga for 13 years. The teachers are outstanding professionals in their field. Their schedule gives me many options that work with my own. I especially appreciate the new midday 1 hour (B60) hot yoga classes that I can do on my lunch break. The traditional 90 minute Bikram classes (B90) are truly an excellent workout. This is a great studio that has made a hot yoga devotee of me, I would recommend it to anyone who is just getting into Bikram and committed yogis alike.

Frequency Yoga has offered me so much more than yoga. Each class, and there are many, I have taken the past several years has helped me to get stronger, healthier and yes, happier. I have my very favorite teachers but everyone's there has something unique they bring to their practice and teaching. It might be the only place where i don't think about how i look but how i feel in the moment in my body. I love it!

Frequency brings the heat - and not just b/c they are home to Bikram and hot yoga - but because they teach genuinely challenging, well-paced classes that will have you sun-salutationing with delight.

The studio offers classic Bikram (90min, standard 26 postures, oven temp set to 105F), an abbreviated Bik (60min), power yoga (60 or 75min, vinyasa flow), TRX classes, and something called Y90 (myofascial release and yin yoga....which sounds absolutely terrifying but I'm sure that my energetic blocks could use a clearing or whatevs, so maybe next time I'm in the hood?). Studio is clean but

Frequency Yoga, formerly Bikram San Rafael, has the most options for daily Bikram & Power classes with FANTASTIC instructors who are super positive and will answer any questions you have. They also offer Myofascial Release with Yin Yoga class. The people that work there are pleasant and helpful. Many people that attend have great energy and are friendly. Only downside is the women's bathroom gets very crowded at times, but a minor setback to a great experience!
