She graduated from Watts School of Nursing in 1998.
She earned a Master's of Science degree in Nursing at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and graduated with honors and has been a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner since 2008. Montgomery was a registered nurse for 11 years with the North Carolina Board of Nursing and specialized in med/surg and the operating room.
