We sadly ended up using Sunset Rentals in one of the hottest weeks of the year(end of July), and arrived to a unit with broken air conditioning. When we arrived, we saw that a portable AC unit had been put into the living room and master bedroom, but they were turned off, so the unit was almost 90 degrees and humid. We had a 2 bedroom unit and no way to cool the second bedroom, so half the family had to stay somewhere else. The only way to keep the unit livable was to keep all the drapes closed and with the portable AC unit blowing on high. At its best for the week, it felt like a damp cave

Do not stay here. Specifically, 137 Cordillo Pkwy, APT 4502. We stayed here from October 8-11, 2021. There was hair in the downstairs double bed and hair in the upstairs master bed. There was hair in the upstairs bathtub as well as some disgusting stuff smeared inside the toilet. There was a pile of bugs on the floor at the entrance doorway. There was grease smeared on the kitchen cabinet handles as well as an ample amount of crud in the ice and water area of the fridge. We rented 33 Haul Away for Labor Day weekend. 6 days before our arrival I received a notice that the home was not available. A tree had fallen and it would not be repaired in time. I was offered 3 other options "at no additional cost". The options were not in Palmetto Dunes, they were smaller and did not have outdoor private pools. The homes also rented for $600 - $1200 less than what I paid. But we could have them at NO ADDITIONAL COST? I emailed the company and called 8/28 and 9/7. Our stay in Hilton Head was all that we needed. The condo was perfectly supplied with everything. The location had all of the amenities within minutes of the front door. Located on the property was a pool and hot tub, dining, entertainment, shopping, water sports rentals and beautiful views of the marina from the picture window located in the living room. The beds and furniture were so comfortable that it made it hard to leave. We look forward to booking again!!

My family rented 5 Hunt Club Ct at the end of July through Sunset Rentals & paid over $6000. It was the worst vacation rental I’ve ever stayed in! It was extremely worn, dated, dirty, & lots of things broken. I called Sunset Rentals multiple times & asked them to come fix/clean. They said they would, but never showed up! I really hope the owner of this property of this reads this.
We couldn’t use pool till 3rd day because it was green & slimy! They had to come in to clean/shock the water with chemicals. Also the porches off the kitchen & both on second floor were really dirty (had mold & spiderwebs

We enjoyed staying at 204 Shorewood very much! It was recently updated and very spacious. Sunset Rentals were very responsive and quickly resolved an issue with the TVs in the unit. We will be back!

We recently rented a townhouse for two weeks in Shipyard on Hilton Head as it was our first visit to the island. When I first booked the property with Alyssa from Sunset, each time I called she was very rude, abrupt and not friendly. Once we arrived, I was disappointed in the condition of the unit. The walls were marked up and in dire need of fresh paint. The furnishings were very dated and sofa cushions were not comfortable because they were so worn. We rented a house on short notice due to COVID with very little left on the rental market but everything was fantastic- the house was exactly as advertised and we really enjoyed the house and the week at HHI. We only had one minor problem (a bed rail on a top bunk came unscrewed) and they sent a person to fix it- no problem. The house was very clean upon arrival and the towels and sheets were nice. The gear rental package that Sunset sent us after we booked was a great surprise- we rented 6 bikes and a trailer….which was awesome! We would definitely rent from Sunset Rentals again!

We rented Ocean Dunes 408 through this company expecting the facilities to look like what was advertised in the pictures, and that is not the case at all. Attached below is the picture of the pool posted on their website, when I called and asked about gaining access to the pool (as nothing was ever mentioned to us) their response was that it was not part of the property and we were unable to use it.

In fact, the real picture of the pool we were given access to was basically just a view of the fence (no actual picture of the pool) attached below. This company was intentionally deceptive about the

We have been coming to HHI for 30 years and this year Sunset Rentals is demanding that we purchase car passes for access to Sea Pines. What a short sighted pile of garbage. We have just paid these folks thousands of dollars and they want to nickel and dime.

Moreover, when we called to try to get this fixed, the representative laughed at the idea that they would provide two car passes for a condo that supposedly sleeps 10.

I called a second time hoping that our first experience was an outlier but... nope...the second experience was rude, combative and intransigent.

I rarely leave a review on Yelp about anything, but this was so bad, I feel the need to share. Started off great, with a property that we were very excited about. Got to the property with no issues(Beautiful home next to the beach with pool) and had a great first night. Woke up to one of the children finding a bug in the bed, after googling the image, it appeared to be a bed bug. This is where Sunset Rentals failed us.
1. I called the emergency number listed and left a message....no return call
2. Waited until they opened at 9 and spoke with a gentlemen who assured us someone would be over immediately

Where to begin?

Well, first, I don't usually leave bad reviews. I am trying to think of the last bad review I left for a business and the best I can think of was in 2013 when I got food poisoning from a restaurant. So, the fact that I'm writing something now should tell you how bad our experience with Sunset Rentals was.

My family rented the condo at 212 Turnberry for the week of July 18-25, 2020. We rented directly through Sunset Rentals' website.

I knew from the condo's pictures that it needed updating, but I was fine with that. You're there to go to the beach. What

I should have paid attention to all of the one star reviews. First, The photos listed on the website for the unit we rented are not an accurate depiction of what the unit actually looks like. We payed a nice sum of money for a condo, but it is run down, dirty and stained. We've liaised with a family who stayed in the unit earlier in the summer and it was dirty and stained when they arrived. I feel we were baited and switched with the unit we rented. Second the company is completely inflexible with their cancellation policy even though the COVID rate in the state of South Carolina is unacceptable

- Worst customer service that we have had. We checked into our unit a week ago and upon arrival there was dirty rags and water bottles left behind from the cleaning service, dirty towels in the wash machine and towels left on the floor. Crumbs all over the living room tables and finger prints on all of the glass services. When we contacted management they said they would send someone over. All they did was to send somebody with a bag to put the towels in when we had a chance. With the Covid 19 and sanitizing you would have thought that they would make sure the place was a lot cleaner. It pains me to give SUNSET RENTALS one star, they deserve NO STARS.
Rented house for 2020. While in rental on 1/10/20 we decided that my husband was doing so well adjusting to being on home dialysis that we could do it again for 2021. We booked for 2021 on that date. In a very short time my husbands health went into a downhill spiral. We discussed his health with his physician and our children and they all agreed it was not advisable to rent in 2021. Last year we had a 5* stay. This year? Awful- it was like we weren't even on the same planet.

House in disrepair. (See photos. )
-Set in Dirt on doors, chairs, lamps, etc. thick Dust film on light fixtures ( you could easily write on it with your finger- the dust was that thick).
-Broken blinds.
-Clear to all guests that house is only "spot cleaned".
-Light wouldn't work in sunroom. We turned on the fan in that room- light fixture came crashing down and shattered. No light in that room for our entire stay.
-Electrical issue in the home.

Just came back from a week long vacation where we stayed at the Greens and already booked a couple weeks for Summer 2020. We have been customers of the Shipyard for many years and loved the place mostly because is so close from the beach. Alyssa was able to secure an unit at the Tennismaster for us and did a great job by honoring a promo we had by having been there this year. We are already looking forward to a great time next year.

We needed a last minute rental on Hilton Head in June and Sunset delivered! They knew my favorite place was Forest Beach Villas and they found a beautifully updated one bedroom for us at an amazing price!

Caleb was a joy to work with and I would definitely use him again. The unit was clean and any question we had was quickly answered. Check in was super easy! Highly recommend!

Let me join the chorus of other one star reviews. By far THE WORST property management company. EVER. You can stop reading and look elsewhere for a house rental.
But in case you're curious, let me just add this:
We rent often in Hilton head. When we arrived at our $4k/wk house it was like they wanted to play a game with us: can you find everything that is defective?--from the pool to toilets to grill to bedding to lack of cleanliness to washer dryer -- I'm not done but literally don't want to spend another minute on this.
