Meet the talented, knowledgeable and compassionate team at Encinitas Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Spencer Mauseth is an American Board of Pediatric Dentistry certified pediatric dentist.
Pediatric dentists are the pediatricians of the mouth and have completed an additional two years of post-doctoral training in the recognition and treatment of children's dental and orthodontic problems. Pediatric dentists know how to evaluate the proper positioning of teeth and jaw structures and evaluate the health of children's teeth, gums and mouth.
At Encinitas Pediatric Dentistry, our first and foremost priority is the safety and comfort of your child. Most dental procedures can be done with local anesthesia alone. In some instances, local anesthesia may be used in conjunction with nitrous oxide (laughing gas). The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recognizes the use of nitrous oxide as a very safe and effective way to mildly sedate children during dental treatments.
As a pediatric dentist, Dr. Spencer had an additional two years of specialized training beyond dental school. Pediatric dentists are dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through the teenage years. The very young, pre-teens and teenagers all need different approaches in dealing with behavior, guiding their growth and development and helping them avoid future dental problems.
The American Association for Orthodontists recommends that every child have an orthodontic evaluation by the age of seven. Though an orthodontist can enhance a smile at any age, there is an optimal time period to begin treatment. Early detection of potential orthodontic issues gives your child a better chance for natural and normal tooth development.

We are so glad we found this dentist office! After several bad experiences elsewhere coming here was the best decision! We have worked with both Dr. Avi and Dr. Spencer and love both. The entire staff is kind and helpful, and the facility is clean, updated and comfortable. My kids shockingly love the dentist now!

After just one visit I can tell Dr G is the perfect complement to the outstanding dentistry that Dr Mauseth has been providing to my daughter for years. Kind, friendly, efficient, skilled and proficient.

We can't rave enough about what a perfect fit Dr. Spencer and his team are with our two kids (6 & 8 years old). Our oldest has had a couple of not so great experiences at different offices and because she had a spacer put in a couple years ago, she was semi traumatized and didn't trust anyone to remove it when the time came... that time was today and Dr. Spencer and company were more than receptive to her needs and in no time, she was relaxed and let him remove it comfortably and without tears (a feat in itself)!! We had a terrific experience. The office is set up so nicely. TVs, portable X-rays, and fast dental hygienists. They knew exactly how to handle my three kids ages 8, 6, and 3. Doctor Spencer was incredible. So kind and personable with the kids. When he was concerned about a cavity, he said “let’s discuss this together.” I really appreciate him explaining everything. They had an cancellation and we got the cavity filled right away. I cannot recommend them enough.

We have been seeing Dr. Spencer for awhile now and he is so professional and friendly. The staff and everyone there are amazing! My daughter had teeth cleaning done today and Cassie is great who was the assistant. I highly recommend you take your kids here for great dental work and a dentist and staff who listens to your needs and delivers great service. This place is the BEST!!

Was looking for a new dentist for my daughter after moving to San Diego and came across Encinitas Pediatric Dentistry! We went in October for her first visit and she loved it so much she wouldn’t stop talking about it. We came back for her 6 month cleaning this April and the experience was still amazing! I’m the guy who hates the dentist and have high anxiety when it comes to even stepping into the office. I kinda put that on my daughter. But the ladies at the front desk were super nice, friendly and inviting. The ladies in the back were awesome with my daughter and talked her through the whole

Zero stress in taking my kids to the dentist. This is the third dentist office I have tried and they are by far the absolute best I’ve been to for my kids. Their office is clean, they are welcoming and so incredibly patient. Both my kids, age 3 and 6, were a little anxious prior to their visits. The dental hygienist and dentist were so kind and very quick! That was a plus for me, as my kids are super wiggly. They have tv’s on the ceilings for the kids to watch as they’re getting their teeth cleaned.
