Dr. Skeens majored in Biology at Cal State University San Bernardino, and then attended Loma Linda University dental school and graduated in 2001. He was the first in his class to finish all clinical requirements 6 months early, and became a faculty member at the dental school. Dr. Skeens attended dental school on an academic Navy scholarship and served 4 years as a Navy Dentist and a Naval Officer.
Clear braces for most adults and some children can help achieve straighter teeth without the obvious appearance of traditional braces. The Clear Correct process involves scanning all of your teeth with an OmniCam, followed by the fabrication of clear retainers to be worn according to the instruction of your dentist or orthodontist.
It is recommended to perform professional teeth cleanings every six months. A standard dental cleaning procedure will remove any plaque or tartar buildup between teeth or near your gum line. Your dental hygienist will scale, polish, and floss each tooth. Then the dentist will conduct a comprehensive exam.
Routine 2D( periapical and bitewing) x-rays are recommended once per year to evaluate the teeth and need to be done before dental services are rendered. Once every 5 years, a 3D(cone beam) is recommended to evaluate the teeth and everything surrounding the teeth. Dental x-rays are safe for the patient and can be taken directly from the inside of the mouth(intra-oral x-ray) or from the outside of the mouth (extra-oral x-ray).
Different dental materials can be used to extend the longevity of your teeth. A dental sealant involves coating the grooves of your molars with a fine resin layer to prevent cavities from forming. Your dentist can offer you a fluoride varnish for further cavity protection. Your child's teeth should get a fluoride varnish as soon as their teeth erupt, but sealants should be applied when the molars erupt around 6 and 12 years of age.

My first visit and was impressed. Very nice Office with a great staff that's been there for over a decade and that says something.
Lucia got in touch with my Dental Insurance to make sure everything was covered.
The hygienist Sara was very thorough, even checked for mouth cancer. Also very nice like the rest of the staff.
Dr. Skeens doesn't rush through an appointment, he spent as much time with me as he needed and showed me where a root canal crown was possible infected.
He doesn't do Zirconia Implants and I'm metal sensitive and can't do Titanium. He said he will work

Dr. Gregory Skeens, is an amazing dentist that looks out for the best interest of his patients at all times. What I like about this dental office is the wonderful people who work there. Victoria, at the front desk is friendly and helpful. Sarah gives me a good dose of gas, so my pain is never a problem. She is also a very careful and gets my teeth and gums as clean as possible. Dr. Skeens treats people like they're his friends and doesn't suggest things that are not needed. My husband and I travel more than 30 miles to get there and it is so worth it.

Having recently moved to Encinitas, I was looking for a dentist and had the good fortune of being referred to Dr Skeens' office by a longtime resident. I was very pleased with my overall experience, not only with Dr Skeens, but also with his staff. Everyone was professional and courteous from start to finish. Dr.Skeens is everything you could ask for in a dentist! His whole office personnel are just awesome too! Right when I walked in I was greeted by the friendly receptionist her name is Victoria and with very little waiting I then went to the back with Lee who was super nice and got me all dialed in and then I met with Dr. Skeens he is a true professional and he broke it all down to where u could understand everything and then let me know the best way to approach everything from the work being done to dealing w insurance! You can totally tell he truly is all about the patient. Then I got my cleaning

I came here with the suggestion of my wife and he is far and away the best dentist with the best practice I have ever been to. I was most impressed with how thorough everything was from the 3D scan of all your teeth to the imaging aspect. I had no idea you could even see your teeth that way. Also another big positive is that they are very honest and do not try to rip you off like most other dentists. I highly recommend Dr. Skeens and everyone else in the practice.

What can I say!? I love my dentist and his office. His team is great !! He is very skilled, professional and he cares !!! In the office for my six month cleaning this week: his part is to do a quick "look under the hood" (an exam) but he did more than that. He didn't just see my teeth, he saw me. He listened to my concerns and we came up with a plan. This really makes me smile!!!
