I really wanted to like this restaurant and I am truly hoping my poor experience was just a bad night for them. We drove about 45 minutes to try La Eda's upon a coworkers recommendation. Upon arriving we found a nice little restaurant nestled into a small shopping center. We were excited to give this new place a try. When we entered we were greeted immediately and asked to sit in the bar. we made our way to a table and soon after was greeted by our waitress ...so far so good. We made our order and despite being disappointed there was no calamari was excited to try what La Eda's had to offer. And

Excellent meals good sauce. Not Ragu (thank God). Only negative sometimes they dont drain their noodles well enough and you get a layer of water on the bottom of ur plate which waters down your sauce. GOTTA DRAIN YOUR NOODLES !!! Need to come up with the times and take cards instead of being cash only. Those days of cash only are long gone. Its an inconvenience to the patron.

First off please bring CASH. No cards are accepted so that gives you an idea how old school Italian this magnificent joint is.
From hand rolled gnocchi to spaghetti & a meatball or veal/chicken parm. Or get a sampler plate.
Please start with a insalata cheese salad with house Italian dressing. Man I love eating here when I can.

I tried this place three years ago, and ever since I’ve been ordering here I have never had a bad experience! The food is always fresh tasting and delicious. My favorite is their gnocchi and fettuccine Alfredo. The servings are perfect and sometimes bigger than expected, which makes for an easy lunch the next day. So happy to have found this place and can’t wait to eat here again!

An amazing place to eat! By chance we found LaEdas while in the area. We had such a friendly, helpful waitress who gave us recommendations that were spot on. Started off with the pierogies fried in butter and onions. Delicious! We ordered the chicken parm, chicken Alfredo, and a half and half platter. Every single thing was so perfectly made. Not only was the food so good, the hospitality by the waitresses and the staff made us feel like we were old friends. It was so nice meeting you all! So glad we made a mistake in our hotel reservation!

Since I was heading to Monessen today for a car show, a friend recommended La Eda's in Monessen for lunch. Was I glad she did!
The penne pasta with meat sauce was really flavorful and came with fresh Italian bread. The portion was so large that I could only eat half.
In a conversation with Cindy, the waitress, I had mentioned I was going to the car show. So, after she brought the take out boxes, she told me that she could put the leftovers in the refrigerator for me so that I could pick up after the car show! Talk about good service!

To state right off no one makes a better red spegetti sauce than me. No bull.
I refined my Mother's recipe and I therefore hardly ever need to eat in Italian restaurants. However, I met an old high school friend for dinner here and must say I would come back. I nearly always get spaghetti when going to an Italian restaurant for the first time. This is my test dish and Edna's passed. If they can't pass on basic spaghetti I don't return. (By the way , white spaghetti with sauce clumped on top is a sacrilege.) Second test is price. I never will pay $15+ for a plate of

My family had a post-funeral lunch at La Eda's on a Friday around 11:30. We had a majority of the dining room filled, but other customers were still able to eat. They offered a mini menu for us to order from. My boyfriend and I both ordered ravioli, mine cheese and his meat, and salads. My niece ordered the Italian Wedding Soup. Our salads had their house dressing and wasn't too bad, but I am typically a ranch girl. I wasn't too fond of my ravioli, but Andrew loved his. I saw the chicken Parmesan plates were massive! Dessert was keystone cake that we had provided ourselves!

Had a pretty decent first experience here when we went. Really enjoyed the appetizers of the pepperoni rolls and fried zucchini.

For dinners, we tried the Veal Parm and a Tuna Salad Croissant with fries. The veal parm was pretty good. It was a little thick, and needed to be pounded down a bit, but it was good. The Tuna salad was generous on the croissant. The fries were a normal frozen crinkle cut.

Our kids tried a Fried Fish sandwich (adult portion), and regular pasta dishes. There was nothing left of the fish sandwich, as my daughter loved it. The pasta dishes were also a hit.

This place has the best ravioli's! I also love their house dressing. It is an oil and vinegar blend that is tasty.
The appetizers are huge!
The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get and the quality of the homemade dishes.
It is cash only though!
I travel about an hour to come here sometimes and it is well worth it.

Authentic Italian at its hometown finest. The half and half was amazing. Homemade gnocchi and raviolis. This hidden gem only takes cash but it's worth the ride through dying monesson. It gives you a feeling of appreciation when you can find a place like this amongst the death of the city. Keep up the great work and I highly recommend this place.

This place is, hands down, one of the best places to eat in the MonValley. You can dine in the bar area, or the dining room. Both of which are always clean, with nice lighting.

The food alone merits a 5 star rating. They make everything homemade. Picture a bunch of Italian grandmas tearing it up in the kitchen. They serve a sweeter sauce, that you can taste hints of garlic in the first bite. It's seasoned to perfection. I get the gnocchi/cheese rav half and half. Even the cheese mixture in the ravioli stands out. And don't you forget a salad with house dressing to prep you for your Italian

Both me and my wife arrived and waited several minutes to finally see a hostess/waitress seat us. Upon her grabbing two menus, leading us to our table, dropping the menus to the table (with her back turned and walking away), we weren't sure how to think about the experience. After waiting for someone to bring bread, water, or to take out drink orders we both felt it was best to leave. We aren't going to beg someone to take our money - which needs to be cash because they don't take cards.

TLDR: Poor service by slow/unfriendly people - go elsewhere.

I really enjoyed eating here. The decor is rustic Italian and the food is very very good.
I ordered the manicotti with a side salad. There was nothing about the food to complain about. The only reason I took one star away was due to the really slow service. Once we ordered, it took almost 40 minutes for it to arrive, and then waiting for the check took almost as long. I would love to come back to eat here again, but fingers crossed they move a little quicker.

An Italian restaurant that blows most out of the water. Even the house salad is pure perfection with the proper amount of cheese topping it. The wedding soup is some of the best I've ever had.
Homemade pasta and deliciously sweet red sauce. The gnocchi are actually homemade and not gross and frozen like some places. Gnocchi are my all time fave pasta dish and I expect nothing short of amazing when ordering out. Here they exceed amazing.

What amazing find thanks to Yelp! As soon as I saw a picture of their ravioli, I knew this place would be great.

My wife is from New Castle, PA and their Italian food is amazing. We live in Canonsburg and have always had a hard time finding good Italian food nearby (other than Pasta Too in Bethel Park, which is excellent). La Eda's is that place.

Authentic. Everything is homemade and their sauce is really good. It's a sweet sauce and that's what we like. Their ravioli's are made onsite by Italian grandmothers and it tastes like it. My wife got the gnocchi and loved that

Extremely disappointed!
I heard fantastic things about this restaurant from coworkers. We all decided to order lunch from there today and was told it would be ready by noon. When I got there, it wasn't ready and I had to wait an extra 20 minutes. The man behind the bar was not happy that we placed a take-out order and when he brought me out my order, they had forgotten my dish. It said on the menu that bread and butter would be provided upon request, but it wasn't.
When I got back to work to eat, I noticed how oily the sauce was. The dish was completely unappetizing and I didn't

The consensus in Monessen is that you either love La Eda's or you hate it, mainly because they have a very sweet sauce. I happen to love sweet sauce so this place is one of my absolute favorites for Italian. It's just difficult making the 50 minute drive from Pittsburgh. If you're in the Mon Valley area and love a sweet pasta sauce, you've got to stop in La Eda's. The food is simple, but sometimes, that's all you need. My favorite is the meat raviolis, which are made in-house. Accompany it with their house salad and house dressing. Their salad is simple with light
