Carousel Marina, located at the gateway to beautiful Boothbay Harbor, Maine, is a mariner's dream, offering every amenity one could hope for. It provides a natural stop over point between Portland and the well-known tourist areas of Rockland and Camden Maine. Located on the East side of Boothbay Harbor, it presents an unequivocal view of Maine's famous sunsets directly across the harbor from Carousel Marina.
Equally pleasing is the ability to see firsthand the working boats and pleasure craft as they enter and leave the inner harbor. Mariners can enjoy the facilities of Carousel Marina including patio dining, clubhouse with TV room and game room, wireless internet service, easily accessible fuel dock, automobile parking and overnight rooms available for the use of transient boaters or their guests.

Part of the Carousel Marina experience is the Whales Tale Restaurant and Seafarer's Pub. New to the facility is a conference room that accommodates up to 60 people and also offers panoramic harbor views.

Chips smothered in chili, cheeses, lettuce, tomato, jalapeno, black olive, onion, with sour cream, salsa, and guacamole. We attempted to go in last night for dinner ; to say we were net in an abrupt way---- would be an understatement. To say, the server was rude would be a huge compliment. No doubt---- we had to get up & leave before we even got started .
This gal " was fried" & should seek alternate employment.
Hope , it was just one ( very) bad day ------

No one in kitchen wearing a mask. Bartender not either and handling everyone's food. One waiter wearing face shield which does 0 for customer's food or drinks, plus its up too high. Other waitress has mask on her chin. Not what I wanted to see while waiting for my takeout. This food is for my elderly parents. Never again.

We found this restaurant on yelp and called to make a reservation on a Sunday night. There was basically no one there, which we thought was bizarre at first. The one thing this place has going for them is the view out on the deck, but that's about it. I had lobster raviolis and it was just ok- not worth the $30. We went here because they had many options on the online menu, but when we arrived, none of them were on the restaurant menu. Worst of all, the drinks were very weak which should be a crime. Two martinis and no buzz. Much better options closer to downtown.

Two stars for good service and friendly waitstaff.
Be forewarned, servers do not wear facemasks, even though we are at the height of the Covid pandemic.
Also be forewarned, some food served did not match menu descriptions. My "Grilled Egg Salad Swiss Melt" did not have any cheese. One would think it might have swiss, right?
And be forewarned, this place gets opinionated on their Facebook page. If mixing business and viewpoints is not your thing, stay away.
Finally, the drinks are weak!

Friendly dock and store helpers. Jack is always helpful. Not far to walk to the pedestrian bridge into town. Easy dinghy ride over to tiwn. Good bar, decent restaurant. Nice showers and laundry, though the laundry is 2.75 per machine. Decent marine store. We always stay here when we come to Boothbay.

The decor is a bit dated, and the children's menu is the standard stuff (my son likes none of it). I really wish restaurants could figure out how to offer something on the children's menu that has a bit more appeal than a chicken nugget, or grilled cheese. The service was S.L.O.W. despite being nearly empty. The food is Meh, not bad, but there is better to be had in town.

We come here every summer for a quiet lunch right on the water with a fine selection for seafood lovers and meat eaters alike.
Whale's Tail is on the east side if Boothbay Harbor, offering fine views of the water. A bonus is the adjacent Carousel Marina and its photos from the filming of the movie of the same name.

I would not recommend this restaurant, in fact, I stay stay away at all costs. I did give one star because the Clam Chowder is excellent, really top notch. Every other aspect of this restaurant is poor. If you must go, try to get take out and only order clam chowder.
We were seated and had to wait 45 minutes to get menus and order drinks. Several times we flagged down a waiter and were told someone would be with us soon. There were many other tables experiencing the same difficulties even though there seemed to be plenty of waiters around, nobody was getting service. Total Twilight Zone restaurant

This place is a hidden gem! The service is extremely friendly and easy-going, and location cannot be beat. This casual restaurant has some of the freshest seafood in the area. I often order the lobster melt sandwich, but have never been dissapointed with anything I got from this menu. The view of the harbor and outer islands is stellar, and reservations for the July 4th fireworks always fill-up!

We went to The Whale's Tale after checking into our cabin for our winter vacation. The place looked wicked cozy and warm and that it was!
The wait staff were extremely friendly at The Whale's Tale and they have the most delicious scallops wrapped in bacon. I wasn't too impressed with my boyfriends fish and chips although they are served traditionally, complete with a newspaper but the hunk of fish was simply too big for my liking.
I had the seafood chowder in a bread bowl - delicious! I never get dessert when I eat out but their dessert menu was hard to refuse - we got the cranberry

My family and I stumbled on to this charming little seaside place because the boat we were going out on was docked at Carousel Marina - what a delight!
We sat out on the deck and were promptly attended to by friendly waitresses who readily told us their menu faves.
I tried my first lobster roll, which was good, not too buttery. I don't know how it holds up to other lobster rolls since this was my first, but I'd definitely eat it again!
My dad got the fried clam roll - which was also tasty! I may have stolen a few bites... :) They also have crab burgers (which looked AWESOME) and lots
