Established in 1976, Gig Harbor Academy is the oldest private school in Gig Harbor. Originally founded as a one-room schoolhouse amidst 10 acres of natural surroundings, children from two through fifth grade continue to educate in an environment that encourages them to think freely for themselves and develop a love for learning.
Gig Harbor Academy continues to follow its guiding principles by providing experiential, inquiry-based learning. When students have questions they are encouraged and supported and given the tools to find the answers as they learn through joyful discovery. Very poorly ran, parent-led board members (against the recommendations of WA state), money is more important than children's well-being. Was told regarding the well-being of my child, "You understand we have to do what is right for the school?". When asked if we could record parent-teach conference, was told that they wouldn't be able to tell us as much about our child if we recorded it. When given the opportunity to choose what's best for our child or for the school financially was told by the principal "We can't pick sides." For 6 years, no matter what event (reward shows, musicals, etc.), was

This is a wonderful school to send your kids to. The staff goes above and beyond in all aspects of education, safety, and building community. You can be assured that your children will be more than ready for middle school. I highly recommend this school to any family looking for a unique, special learning environment to send their children.
