Guardian Jiu-Jitsu is the ONLY gym in the greater Holland area offering our unique mix of programs: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for kids and adults, kickboxing, M9 kettlebells, and women's martial arts. Our 3,700 square foot facility is conveniently located in Holland Town Center, behind Nelis' Dutch Village.
Services
Our mission is simple: to build the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy in the state of Michigan, while serving our community of the greater Holland area. Guardian Jiu-Jitsu serves adult students of all ages and abilities (both men and women), as well as children ages 6 and up. As a martial artist, you have many choices when it comes to selecting a gym at which to train.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (also commonly known as "BJJ, " "Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, " or just "Jiu-Jitsu") is a martial art that focuses on grappling to establish dominant control of an opponent, and the use of submission holds to force an opponent to "tap out." It's founded on the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger, heavier opponent.
The Guardian Kickboxing Program offers training for teens and adult men and women, ages 16 and up. We welcome students of all skill levels, from experienced kickboxers, to complete beginners. Our kickboxing program stresses fundamentals, and is an excellent complement to Jiu-Jitsu training. Plus, it's a fun and intense workout!
Our M9 classes combine the science of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) with cast-iron kettlebells to give you a fun, intense workout that gets results fast. But since the M9 Fitness System was designed to be scalable, it's also an ideal way for anyone to build muscle, burn fat, and look and feel their best.

Head instructor Kevin Irwin is the most encyclopedic, enthusiastic BJJ teacher I've had (and I've had a few in my nearly three years doing this). Both those traits are evident when you hear him speak about the various details of a given technique or said technique's applicability in a given situation.
The other instructors and teammates at the gym are incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable as well! Coach Joshua Radke is a fun-loving badass who teaches some incredibly useful techniques and his warm ups are great for learning specific sequences and situations. He's also just a funny dude in general

Been going for about two weeks, both the kickboxing and the BJJ classes. Everyone is friendly and it's a relaxed atmosphere. The thought of going to a gym like this is way more intimidating than actually going. Also before one of my classes I got to see the last 15 or do minutes of a kids BJJ class. I was very impressed. And before the end of the kids class they had a nice ethics lesson. Would definitely recommend this place for friends and for friends interested in enrolling kids.

Amazing experience! The coaches are knowledgeable, patient, and experienced. The atmosphere is also outstanding. Along with this, the training facility is clean, and new! Definitely recommend training here whether you're a beginner or already experienced.

I’ve only been with Guardian a few weeks, but it’s easy to feel at home here. The classes have great energy; classmates are always willing to help each other improve and work through difficult tech. The coaches are not only technically skilled, but are also great communicators, which helps to get the most out of the lessons. I especially recommend the women’s classes to any women who are interested, we have a good group going.

Our family loves Guardian Jiu-Jitsu!! We' ve never done anything like this before, it's amazing! It's been close to a year for us, and honestly you should try it!!
(husband, myself and 4 of our 5 kids attend) The coaches openly share their knowledge and genuine passion for Jiu-Jitsu. Kids classes are fantastic! You can stay and watch, you'll be impressed, beautiful mix of hard work, focus, fun as well as welcoming and safe. This is true for the adult classes as well. We always leave smiling. Also the academy is very clean!! Clean mats, clean bathrooms, locker rooms, everything.

I've trained at nearly a dozen different Brazilian Jiu Jitsu schools, and this school is right at the top. The instructors here, coach Kevin and coach Andy, are first rate. They are very personable, easily to talk to, and experts in their art. Most importantly, they know how to teach. The new facility is amazing, very spacious, with top of the line Zebra mats, locker rooms and showers. If you're considering starting BJJ, don't feel intimidated at all! This is the place for you!
