Lakeshore Taekwondo Academy
Lakeshore Taekwondo Academy is dedicated to training people without injury; not only in the art, to defend themselves, but also in sport to develop reflexes, flexibility, and promote good health to all practitioners. We offer classes for children, adults, families and businesses in our communities specializing in Taekwondo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Hapkido and Self-Defense.

All students that are participating in the board breaking demonstration on the ice must have a LTA dress uniform and attend the scheduled practices for the demonstration. Taekwondo is a martial art, developed 2000 years ago as an unarmed form of self-defense, characterized by its fast, high and spinning kicks.

Hapkido is a form of self-defense used by many practitioners of Taekwondo. It involves joint locks and manipulation, and is very effective when used by smaller people. At Lakeshore Taekwondo Academy, we integrate Hapkido into our classes, to give a practical method of self-defense to all our students.
Self-defense is an important aspect of our training at Lakeshore Taekwondo Academy. We employ the use of Taekwondo, Hapkido, and plain old common sense, in teaching our students how to handle any given situation. We also periodically offer self-defense seminars, so that people who are not students can still make practical use of our expertise.
This is where we take the traditional, basic techniques and put them all together to make Taekwondo a sport. We only allow students who have color on their belt to participate in these classes, due to the faster paced, more intense workout it provides. Being a competition team member is required in order to participate in tournaments.
As instructors, even before we opened our own school, we have been asked what people should tell their friends or family to look for in a martial arts school. WARNING: Not all instructors have earned the belt level that they claim to have. A black belt is no different than a college degree. Ask the instructor to show proof of their belt level (a true rank certificate will be from the martial arts country of origin).
As in all martial arts, there are certain ways of behaving that are honorable, and others that are not. Showing respect for our instructors, black belts, coaches, referees and other authorities inside the dojang is balanced by showing respect for teachers, parents, and friends outside the dojang.

Unfortunately there are no hard and fast rules for every possible situation, but basically, it's making sure that when you are interacting with others, you are behaving in a way that will bring honor, not only to yourself and your family, but to your sport.

My son has been going here for over three years. The changes I've seen in him since starting here have been awesome and he loves it. The instructors are all great! Highly recommended.
