Services
Individual counseling specializing in the treatment of depression and anxiety throughout the lifespan: children, adolescents, and adults. Communication is key to a healthy relationship. Couples counseling specializing in enhancing marriages, restoring marriages, transitional phases and blended family struggles.
This group is great for kids who need help in adjusting to new situations or have anxiety. The group meets every other Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Intended for the ages of 12 and 18 who experience intense emotions and have difficulty coping in a healthy way. For teens whose emotions and behaviors may feel out of control.
The first session is called an "intake" and it typically lasts 75 minutes. We collect important information that will help us to develop goals and a personalized plan of treatment. Subsequent sessions are typically 45-60 minutes. During these sessions, we work together to achieve your goals through listening, practicing effective coping skills, and encouraging the use of these skills outside of session.
Our office is conveniently located in Richfield, Ohio, between Cleveland and Akron. We offer safe, free and easy parking right outside our doors. Once you arrive, you will step foot into a calm, quiet, and welcoming environment. Clients will proceed to a counseling room that is purposely decorated with their comfort in mind, regardless of age.
Patricia Shumay is a licensed professional counselor and owner of Shumay Counseling Services, LLC. She obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Pennsylvania State University and a Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary. Patricia is experienced in assisting individuals and couples with a wide variety of emotional and relational issues.
