Tosa Yoga Center
Tosa Yoga was always meant to be a place where people are welcome to just show up "as they are right now." I always hoped that people would feel that as soon as they walk in the door. One of the biggest compliments I receive is when people come in, let out a big breath and say, "I'm really glad I'm here."

My own inspiration for teaching comes from these wonderful individuals. I have learned so much and gained so much from them-more than most will ever know. I feel very fortunate to be the owner of Tosa Yoga, but even more-just to be a part of this special place. If you have a current pass at TYC, this one, with the closer expiration date, will be used first.
Services
Our Program was developed to provide quality yoga education to students who wish to teach vinyasa flow yoga. By learning to become a confident, effective communicator, teach in a caring, ethical way, and discover your own unique style and voice, you'll be prepared to offer purposeful, meaningful yoga classes.
Melanie Landgraf opened Tosa Yoga in Wauwatosa, WI, in 2006 and spent 7 years growing her classes and creating an amazingly welcome yoga space. Over the summer and fall of 2012, Melanie and her husband, Guy, completed an extensive remodel at our new location just a few blocks away and opened the doors at this new location in December of 2012.
Minors (13 years of age and up) are allowed to attend regular weekly classes, but our waiver must be completed in the studio by their parent/legal guardian upon arrival to their first class. We highly recommend that a parent/legal guardian attend class with children ages 13-15.

Minors ages 16-17 typically do just fine in regular classes without a parent, but we recommend that a parent attend at least the first couple of classes with their 16-17 year old.Minors must also let us know when they turn 18 so they can complete a new adult waiver. Tosa Yoga Center aims to create an environment of peace, well-being and safety for all who practice or work here.
We want to make your yoga experience as uncomplicated and enjoyable as possible, so we've outlined some of the most important information you need to know. If you are a beginner, we suggest starting with a Level 1 class (Yoga Basics & Slow Flow, Gentle Yoga or Restorative Yoga). We try to hold Intro to Yoga Workshops occasionally, so please watch for those as well.
We recommend you have at least six months of consistent practice under your belt before signing up. More importantly, you should have a sincere desire to deepen your own practice and experience, and/or a true desire to share yoga through teaching. We understand that there may be important family events already scheduled, and emergencies do happen; don't let the fear of having to miss a class hinder you from signing up.

Tosa Yoga Center offers a variety of classes for all levels in a comfortable setting...I have now taken numerous classes via Zoom and in person and can say that I have enjoyed every class and instructor. Every instructor has been thoughtful in offering variations to motions as well as encouragement. I can say I'm now hooked!

Tosa Yoga has so improved my core and saved me thousands of dollars I otherwise would have had to pay a chiropractor... Melanie's step by step flow instructions have helped me achieve poses I thought impossible!

This place is beautiful and tranquil. The staff and instructors are super friendly and informative. I hadn't done yoga for years and wanted to get back into it and felt a little intimidated. So I was relieved when I looked at their class schedule and saw that they rank their classes 1-3 with 1 being the most basic and slow flow yoga. It was perfect! The other thing that I LOVE is that you don't need to make appointments to attend classes, you just show up! Tip: buy a 10 back of classes for a deep discount!

Tosa yoga is the very best of a neighborhood yoga studio. Warm, cozy and inviting with its cork board floors and bright yellow walls with amazing staff and great teachers! I started my practice here and since then have become a regular. It is where I fell in love with yoga.

For the beginner yogi, there is at least one intro to yoga class per week as well as the occasional weekend workshop for intro to yoga. Having done some yoga in the past, mostly at home, I was able to jump into a flow 1/2 class without problems.

There are also plenty of interesting classes such as restorative yoga, yoga

I have been going to Tosa Yoga for over 10 years. The owner, Melanie, is so welcoming, and such a great instructor. Every teacher I have taken a class with at Tosa Yoga is knowledgeable, friendly and inviting. The space makes you feel welcome and relaxed right away. I love it here!

I've just recently gotten into yoga more regularly, and I've tried a couple of studios around the Milwaukee area. The more classes/instructors/styles I try out, I really love Tosa Yoga more and more. They have a very friendly and welcoming studio and staff, which is great for students of all abilities. The space is both modern and comfortable. Shavasana and stare at the ceiling for hours!

What really sets Tosa Yoga apart from others, however, is Melanie and her staff of instructors. While other studios just go through a series of poses "do this, bend here, move your feet.."

This is my favorite yoga studio. Melanie, the owner, really has a passion for what she does. She is the standard to which I hold all other yoga teachers. And the studio has that really fresh yoga feel to it, I always leave feeling like I left my worries behind.

The staff is top notch, the owner, Melanie is adorable (I can say that in my review, right?) and runs a great, well organized and well-meaning business. The facility is beautiful, calming and peaceful. I always love going to classes at Tosa Yoga because I can work at my own skill level and not feel intimidated or uncomfortable. When I leave, I feel so happy, relaxed and healthy. The teachers do a fantastic job of getting us to that point. Tosa is lucky to have such a wonderful place to practice yoga!

Very, very friendly staff!

I particularly like the way the owner, Melanie, plans her classes. Each class is planned around a certain peak pose. The flow leading up to that pose makes sure the muscles you'll be using are warmed up and stretched so that you can do the peak pose (or at least attempt it) without hurting yourself. I've honestly had a very difficult time finding another studio that has classes set up this way. I find it very helpful.

Modifications are always, always, always given. However, advanced options are always given, too. Classes don't feel like they're

Pros:
First class free!
No rental fee for mats
Free mat storage for regulars
Clean, spacious, bright facility
Plenty of free street parking
2 Unisex bathrooms

Cons:
No showers

I went to a morning level 2/3 class taught by owner Melanie. There were roughly ten people in the room, and at 28 I was very likely the youngest. Instruction was great. She did guided flow followed by a workshop-style arm balance segment. The room only made it up into the 80's, and practice wasn't overly vigorous. Adjustments were made occasionally, but not an overly hands-on class.

I'll be back next time

Tosa Yoga is a gem in the Wauwatosa/Milwaukee area. It's a sweet, caring place that I almost hesitate to tell you about for fear it will become so popular that I can't get in for the classes I love. Melanie, the owner, is a fun, inspiring and gentle spirit who really loves that her studio makes a difference in people's lives. She is continually working to improve her knowledge-base and skills and passes that knowledge on to her students.

I have friends who take the basic and more advanced yoga classes and they rave about the instructors. It's a small studio that allows a newcomer
