Chicago Association For Psychoanalytic Psychology
The Chicago Association for Psychoanalytic Psychology provides professionals and students a place to widen and enrich their current knowledge of, and experience with psychoanalytic ideas including psychoanalytic/psychodynamic theory, research, and practice. We are a unique network of professionals of all levels of experience joined together in a learning community independent of any formal training programs.

Through various educational, social, and consultative programs, CAPP works to explore and promote the theories and practice of psychoanalytic thought as it has evolved throughout the past century. Since Freud's initial discoveries of the unconscious and the dynamics of our internal life, psychoanalysis has broadened and deepened its base for comprehending the human condition.
Services
CAPP is an organization composed primarily of mental health professionals - psychologists, social workers, and psychiatrists devoted to keeping psychoanalytic and psychodynamic theories and practice thriving in the Chicago metropolitan area. CAPP provides all professionals with an interest and motivation to expand their experiences with psychoanalytic/psychodynamic thinking and techniques a place to interact with other like-minded individuals.
This meeting led to the formation of the Chicago Association for Psychoanalytic Psychology (CAPP), which was legally incorporated in 1981. The purposes of CAPP at that point were to (1) provide a community for mental health professionals interested in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, (2) develop professional, intellectual, and social activities for its members, and (3) organize a formal training program in psychoanalysis.
The Chicago Association for Psychoanalytic Psychology is a local chapter of Division 39 of the American Psychological Association. CAPP is an open network of professionals and students committed to the study, research and exchange of ideas within and across psychoanalytic and psychodynamic theories and practices.
Currently we do not have any Live Supervision sessions scheduled. Please watch for announcements about upcoming CAPP Conversations that will address relevant topics in Psychoanalysis and Psychodynamic psychotherapy in a small group setting. Several Conversations will be scheduled throughout the year.
CAPP welcomes all students and professionals interested in belonging to a network of individuals pursuing educational, social, and professional experiences within a psychoanalytic community. You can become a new member or renew your existing membership on-line by moving your mouse to the "Interested in Joining" tab above, and then clicking "CAPP Member Registration."
